MoonCancer Class Ideas

Very late on this, but with the introduction of Ganesha as a MoonCancer class Servant, based on the story that Ganesha broke his own tusk to throw at the moon for laughing at him, we can pretty safely say that MoonCancer as a class refers to threats not only to the system of the Moon Cell as established with BB, but any literal threat to the moon itself. Therefore, any legend about the moon being damaged, eclipsed, or at risk of being destroyed is fair game here. Rider from Learn More with Manga, who may be famous filmmaker Georges Melies, could technically qualify given the iconic image from his most iconic film, A Trip to the Moon, depicting a ship piercing the face of the Man on the Moon.

We could also expand beyond the moon for a generalized Cancer class, being threats of damage or destruction to any given thing, though that would probably make the Beast class Earth or HumanityCancers, and I’m not sure that would necessarily work, but let’s put a pin in that. For now, we’ll focus solely on the moon.

I did consider at one point that a general Cancer class could be Heroic Spirits of Corruption, since ostensibly BB specifically corrupts the Moon Cell’s system, but Ganesha kind of threw a tusk in that.

Hati Hrodvitnisson: 

Managarmr (Moon-Hound)- originally a wolf, Hati is summoned in the form of a large man. When invoking the name of his Noble Phantasm, he resumes his true form. If activated at night, the light of the moon disappears and the sky turns blood red, as legend states will occur when he devours the dead. The brighter the moon at the time of its activation, the larger and more powerful Hati becomes in his true form. As a passive effect, Hati also gains a portion of the mana of the Holy Grail War’s casualties, making him a greater threat as the war drags on. 

In an expanded definition of the Cancer class, his brother Skoll may be considered SunCancer, with a similar Noble Phantasm, Solvarg.

Batara Kala: 

Appetite for Misfortune- by eating the light of the moon or the sun (causing an eclipse), targets within a certain range suffer an extreme decrease in Luck, causing unlucky events to occur around them, potentially resulting in death. The only way to regain the lost luck is to cause Batara Kala to vomit by banging on drums or making other loud noises, returning the light to the sky. Targets born out of wedlock suffer a greater decrease in Luck.

Svarbhanu: 

Rahu and Ketu- because he drank the elixir of immortality, amrita, Svarbhanu survived his beheading in Hindu mythology and became Rahu, the head, and Ketu, the body, which became the shadow planets responsible for solar and lunar eclipses. When separated, Rahu gains the body of a snake and Ketu the head of a snake. As immortal beings of shadow, this Noble Phantasm allows them to become incorporeal, merge and travel through shadow, and shapeshift. 

Rahu Kalaam- a bow and arrow made of shadow, and thus unblockable; when a target is struck, they are covered in darkness and their efforts will be met with failure. For example, the use of a Noble Phantasm will be ineffective, either simply not achieving any helpful outcome or potentially even breaking. This effect will last for no more than 90 minutes, and can only be activated as Svarbhanu, not Rahu and Ketu. This qualifies Svarbhanu for the Archer class.

Coyote: 

Toruk- when Coyote prompts the great bird Toruk to call, “To-o-o!,” a moon appears, bringing with it rain, snow, hail, or mighty wind, each colder than the last, potentially freezing a target. The freezing weather continues until each moon is destroyed. Toruk’s call may also be used as a lure for a target.

Rona: 

Whakamau-Tai (Tide Controller)- by pouring water out of her calabash, Rona can create rain or waves. 

Possesses the Provocation Skill, wherein she can manipulate a target to action by cursing at them. 

Because she lives on the moon, she qualifies for Foreigner class.

Minokawa:

Calulundan- named for the cave beyond the sky that Minokawa lives within, Minokawa creates sixteen holes in space that he can jump between at will, in reference to the eight holes that the moon enters and exits in the sky to escape Minokawa. Eight of the holes are strictly for entering, eight for exiting, but all are shrouded in blue smoke to obscure the pattern

Appears in human form with ranked down parameters (mostly due to the drastic decrease in size)

Armaments include a steel beak mask, claws, and a cape made up of feather blades

Wears goggles in reference the mirrored eyes in its base form

(Various other Phillipino creatures could have been used in place of Minokawa, such as Bakunawa, but I found the steel bird idea more interesting)
