" Sokka... That's part of being a warrior, " she said, sliding her hand over to rest on top of his. In truth, Suki didn't have the experience Sokka had--not more than him, at least. The Kyoshi Warriors' part in the war was still far from the frontlines, and then they were imprisoned for so long... The most Suki faced was the Fire Nation airfleet alongside Sokka and Toph.
And she had been scared. Just as he said--eyes wide and terrified. Suki didn't have his experiences in the Southern Water Tribe as Fire Nation ships attacked his home, and she wasn't going to pretend she did. But what she did know is that the life of a warrior is not of fearlessness and power. It's of courage and overcoming. Fighting even though you're scared and beaten down. How did she know this? She could only assume it was her connection to Avatar Kyoshi. She felt what it meant to be a warrior, even though she herself hadn't experienced the darker side of it as much as people around her. But she knew what being a warrior meant... And she kept that title with honor, knowing well what fate may await her.
Suki's thumb rubbed over the back of Sokka's hand, the young woman hoping to quiet some of his thoughts. " You are a hero... You saved the world. Even though you were afraid and hurt. We were just kids, Sokka... An adult would have been just as afraid. But despite it all, you kept fighting. I think...you're an amazing warrior. "
