ah . . . so it does . . . puck thinks he probably should have known this. maybe he did. a little bit. he hadn't been thinking. he thought he was helping. why does he feel like laughing ？his heart feels both light & heavy at the same time, hammering against his chest with pleasure & guilt.

he'd oh-so-innocently taken a conscious step forward. just a little one. he had a scroll of misty step in his pack; he'd promised the man he'd throw it to him, but he had to get juuuust a bit closer. closer to the bibberbang.

not true. it's not true. you could have thrown it from that distance easily. you know you could have.

then his head snaps up, and he looks at fely'ene with wide, desperate eyes. ❝ you believe me, don't you ？❞

They overestimated themselves. They thought they could swallow back their fear of tight spaces and being underground in order to follow their companions into an old passage that promised to cut travel time in half. They really thought they had it, that it wouldn't be that bad. That they could be brave enough. Then the walls started to close in and, oh, hells, the air is getting thinner, isn't it ?

It felt like a perfectly acceptable reason to panic at the time. But in retrospect, they should've realized it was at least somewhat psychological since none of their other companions seemed bothered by these occurrences - only a little worried about Iago's sudden state and the wild magic surge that nearly caused the passageway to collapse. The harper with them certainly seemed like he could breathe and move around just fine, since he scooped up Iago and deftly removed them from the tunnels before another burst of untamed magic buried them all alive. Vaguely, Iago is baffled at Neyvin's calm, seeing as she is nearly twice their height, making them feel a bit silly for their worries of being trapped somewhere 'too small.' But then the walls start to close in again and silliness be damned, they are grateful for Neyvin's size and strength that so easily sweeps them out of there.

They have little desire or capacity to object, desperation and panic clouding their mind too much to find their way back out on their own. They're holding onto Neyvin like a lifeline by the time they're outside again, underneath an open sky, where they can finally gasp frantically for air take a deep, calm breath. "I'm- I apologize," Iago stammers out, loosening their grasp on her shirt since their hands are still sparking a bit and they would rather not like to add an electrocuted firbolg to their wild magic repertoire. They frantically try to gain back some dignity even as they're still shaking like a leaf and being held a good five feet off of the ground, "I didn't mean to- I thought- I only need a moment or two, just some fresh air, then I'm fine."

Of course, it's okay if you aren't into talking about yourself.❞ Perhaps Nova wanted to distract herself from the big issue at hand. A tadpole wiggling in their head, which will lead to an inevitable fate of a mindflayer. It felt unreal. Odd even. At the same time, she couldn't panic. Not yet. Although their concerning issue is big at hand, there is also a good thing about it. They aren't turning into one just yet.

They had a bit of time, right?

One hand - covered by a thin, black glove - adjusted the head piece in her hair, though she didn't need to worry too much about it. It stayed safely in her hair and not out of place.

House Do'Urden had seen better days. Sitting in ruin for more than a century, little more than a training ground for drow foot soldiers, it held little of its former glory. Assuming that was the word you wanted to use.

As of late, though, it was on the up-and-up again; Quenthel Baenre had commissioned Bregan D'aerthe to clean the place up, and they were hard at work. The proper Captain of the Guard had long since bribed his way out of his duties, as the infamous Dandy was wont to do, but a considerable number of his men remained in Menzoberranzan.

Luz had an amicable enough working relationship with one or two of the right people, of course. Mercenaries needed food and drink the same as anyone else, and many of them had long since developed palettes more suited to flavors from the surface. Luz Nehari came peddling his own wine, certainly, but he had everything you could have ever wanted for sale. He helped Bregan D'aerthe when and where it suited his own business, and they occasionally did the same for a bit of an extra cost. He didn't mind; Luz was a generous man.

That generosity had led him here to a set of siblings seeking safe passage out of the city. The good old boys of Bregan D'aerthe would be doing most of the heavy lifting in the endeavor, of course, for a price of their own--all Luz had to do was procure a few writs of passage and assist with some of the logistics. A benefactor at most, really.

A plan had been made, a meeting within the halls of House Do'Urden called to a close; now there was only waiting and executing.

In the meantime, there could be celebration.

"Well, then. Now all that business is settled, a celebration of your very imminent escape to the surface is in order. Don't you think?" He grinned, cheeky but not unkind.
