it had only been about an hour of wandering around aimlessly in the woods, but margot had convinced herself it had been days — she had eaten all of her trail snacks and drank half of her water, though it was supposed to last her all afternoon. it was only when she had begun to give up all hope of finding the witch that she stumbled upon a seemingly thriving cabin in the middle of nowhere. “what the...” she had come out here to play time and time again as a kid, but not once had she ever found a cabin. and it was with utter curiosity and a nearly dead phone that she easily convinced herself to trespass and see if the building would open it’s doors to any clues about the local legend. upon entering the building, she noticed it wasn’t at all what she expected, and looked as if someone had been living there recently. things were tossed about, not in a rundown and abandoned way, but in a way that seemed naturally inhabited. it was odd, to say the least, and the normalcy of it seemed to give margot the creeps more that anything. it wasn’t until she turned to leave for the day that she noticed the girl standing in the corner, watching her. “holy fuck,” she exclaimed, “have you been here the whole fucking time? you scared the shit out of me, oh my god.” catching her breath, margot settled into herself once again and noticed just how beautiful the person she just abhorrently screamed at. “i’m so sorry, please, ignore everything that just happened. i’m margot.” she quickly closed the space between the two of them and held her hand out to shake, beaming grin smeared across her face. “you msut be out here looking for the witch too, huh? find anything noteworthy?”
