Ramadan moon sighted, holy month will begin from Thursday

The moon for Ramadan has been sighted in Pakistan and the first day of fasting month will be start on Thursday across the year. This year, the Holy month has started across Pakistan including Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) along with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries on the same day. This announcement was made by Mufti Mujeeb Ur Rehman after a meeting held in Karachi on Wednesday evening. Ramadan will be start on May 17 Thursday in Pakistan. On Tuesday, Khalid Ejaz Mufti, the Secretary General of the Ruet e Hilal Research Council (RHRC) has said that the Holy month could begin from Thursday although that Ramadan moon was not sighted in Gulf and other East countries. Usually in Pakistan Ramadan starts one day after Saudi Arabia. After a long time Pakistan has joined other world countries in starting the fasting month on the same day. According to Mufti, new moon can only be sighted if its age was more than 19 hours at sunset and the difference between sunset and moon set is more than 40 minutes. He further added age of new moon on Wednesday will be more than 26 hours in all cities of Pakistan and the between sunset and moon set will be 58-60 minutes. According to the reports Muslims in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Iran, Japan, Australia, Palestine and the United Kingdom will also start their holy month of fasting from Thursday.
