Help a struggling writer out: should a 20k fic be a one shot or should I break it into chapters? This was intended to be a one shot but then it didn’t end that way

You know you’re asking the wrong person because I routinely write 50K chapters...but honestly, I think it depends?? Is it one continuous scene? Is there a time or emotional shift where it makes sense to break into into parts? If not...rock the long oneshot. I do. ;)

Parks and Rec has it for the most part! Some of the couples go through small bumps of break ups but then are together for majority of the show.

1. What house will you be in? Gryffindor2. If the sorting hat was on you and it said you’d be great in a house you didn’t consider before, will you follow his advice or choose what house you want? I feel like it depends on the house the Hat chooses (Gryff v. Puff has been a constant debate in my life but I’ve chosen Gryff so I feel like. I’d choose then?)3. What kind of animal would you bring to school? Owl 4. If you were in class, where would you normally sit? Honestly depends on the class, I’d sit front and center for DADA and Charms, probably middle for Transfiguration, and like. The back of the back for History anything5. What do you think you’ll be doing right now? If I’m not home for the holidays or whatever, I’d probably be dicking around. Probably chilling outside the castle.6. What’s the core of your wand?
