Lily recounts to Robin and Kevin how she and Marshall have to put out everything Marshall's mother gave them over the years whenever she comes to visit, including these matching moose sweaters.
Reiko Kurumada (Costume Designer): “Lily was pregnant, and Craig and Carter wanted her to be the rear end of a moose with Marshall as the head. With Lily’s belly and height difference between them, it was a feat to get them to line up. Craig and Carter also wanted it to look like Judy had made it. So, we purchased a bunch of materials, starting with plain sweaters from JC Penny at $8 a piece. We then outsourced the actual construction of moose to well-known seamstress that worked on many TV shows. About two hours before we were set to shoot the scene, we go to pick then up but when we peeked in window, we saw the sweaters, barely half-finished, and this woman sitting there, just watching TV. We brought the sweaters back and my department hurried to finished them, which we did just minutes before the cameras rolled. Lesson learned: do not outsource to other people."
