with being on the road all the time, dean would sneak out of the motel at night to go see classic rock shows even if he had to get in without tickets. then when sam was old enough, sam would go along with dean and sam decided that he would buy a t shirt for dean from each show they went to. but sam could never find the right time to give the shirts to dean so he just kept collecting. then before sam left for college, he gave all of them to dean and that’s why dean loves them so much.

just the idea of the brothers sneaking out together always kills me
but then you had to go and add sam not knowing the right time and fucking giving them to him before he lefttttt
i like to thing he gave them to dean like a few days before he left. and dean sort of knew something was coming but he didn’t want to acknowledge it. and then when the fight happened, it all made so much sense and dean was just there trying to keep them from killing each other.
and those damn shirts were in the back of his mind. because sam wasn’t doing this to hurt him. he had to remember that.
sam needed to live his own life.
