Shattered has.... odd ways of bonding. One of which is what he likes to call the 'rat race'.

he'll let Y/n get a head start and they have to run and try to escape the castle before he can hunt them down. Whenever he finds them, he'll often gloat and condescendingly pat their head, assuring them that they'll win eventually.

Despite the sociopathic undertones, he never does any harm during these games. He calls it 'enrichment' for the both of you. He's only ever hurt Y/N inadvertently, whether it be bruising them with his tentacles or accidentally dropping them when trying to pick them up.
