the topic i could talk about for 45 minutes is that andy’s boyfriend isn’t the only antagonist of the devil wears prada, and that all the characters behave like antagonists Frequently throughout the movie. like i’m not here to fully defend the boyfriend, he sucks, but andy blowing off his birthday party for a work event she no longer needed to be at was cruel! her leading him to believe all night that she’d be there instead of telling him she probably wouldn’t make it is unkind! he reacts believably!
TDWP is unique in that it’s a ‘pop culture’ movie where all the characters behave villainously. they’re all technically villains because they’re all believable portrayals of the ways real people behave and react. real people can’t be neatly categorized as good or evil and neither can any character in this blessing of a movie!
