OMG I AM SO TRIED MUST STAY STRONG ALMOST DONE
Gothic Arch spread to england and the english changed it up
Salisbury Cathedral in England, (begun in 1220) is Early English is which is close to High Gothic in French.
Its very similar to Gothic Chapels, with the differences being that it is much more solid with less impressive portal doors, lacking in symmetry and with windows that are more heavily crowded and roundly arches.
it also has more of a square and rectangle thing going on than other styles and had a squarish area for ministers and monasteries.
Emphasized length over height, so longer than most High Gothics, wider arches as well as more rounded ones.
Gloucester Cathedral is up next and whoa it was in Harry Potter!
Very long, not so tall, also with a monastery attached as is common with england, large glass windows but not as large as French High Gothic. Has some roundness to the design of the floor plan, but with much more squared off shapes.
The East window is largely glass and it is very pretty
SO TIRED FUCK
The vaulting was very elaborate, with pretty patterns, fan vaulting, flower-esque vaulting, very pretty stuff.
King's College Chapel in England (begun 1446) was very similar to the jewelry box style, with a very simple, box design set off by elaborate and decorative vaulting and stained glass/ The entire surface of the vaulting was covered in ornamentation
the floor plan is basically a rectangle.
FINAL GOTHIC BUILDING IMMA BE TESTED ON FUCK YES
St. Maclou at Rouen (1432, facade finished late 15th century)
Built in French Flamboyant style Gothic, characterized by curvilinear open tracery, elaborate portals and the glorious facade, which is pointy, triangular, and beautiful.the church has several small/thin towers and one hugely overpowering one at its back.
it was a parish church not a cathedral with a very compact design and extravagant tracery to contrast the sober interior.
