Settling the Details

Shadhemir had said goodbye to Neun, giving her a kiss before she teleported back to Dalaran. He knew he couldn’t go with her, there was no reason and he wouldn’t have been all that welcomed anyways, but he was still disappointed to see her go. The mage disappeared and Shad stared at the spot a few moments longer before heading back into the study.

Sitting down at the desk, the warrior began collecting the papers and items that had been left for him by his parents and started putting them back in the lockbox that sat beside him on the floor. The last thing he picked up was a picture, showing his parents and him when he was much younger, and he looked at the picture for a while. Then he heard the noise, someone clearing their throat, coming from the doorway.

“Is everything okay, sir?” Mr. Cooper asked as he stood in the doorway.

“I’d like to think so, Mr. Cooper.”

“Is there anything you require, sir?”

“We’ll be going to making an offer on the land tomorrow,” Shad answered, placing the picture in the lockbox. “Hopefully we can get that handled quickly.”

“I’m sure you can. Have you contacted the builders yet?”

“Didn’t seem a need until we had the property secured.”

“That seems prudent. How quickly do you think they will be able to complete construction?”

“Well, they handled the garrison pretty quickly” Shad answered, leaning back in his chair. “This would be a much smaller project. With luck we could have it done in time for the wedding.”

“A rather tight timetable, sir.”

“Quite. If it works out, we were hoping that you would be able to oversee the moving of our things to the new house while we were on our honeymoon.”

“Of course, sir. I will make the arrangements.”

“Are you still okay continuing your work with us?”

“Of course, sir. Were you moving to one of the shires, I may not have been. But staying within the area of the city is easily manageable.”

“Good,” Shad replied with a smile.  “I know Neun will be pleased to still have you around as well.”

“Of course, sir.  Will there be anything else?”

“I think I’ll be heading into Old Town this morning,” Shad said after thinking for a moment.

“Will you need me to accompany you, sir?”

“No,” Shad answered.  “This is something I can handle myself.”

“Of course, sir. Should I set out steaks to thaw? You could have them for dinner or perhaps use one in case you acquire another blackened eye,” Mr. Cooper said, completely deadpan.

“Steaks would be fine,” Shad replied with a smirk.  “I don’t expect to be too long.”

An hour later, the warrior was heading out the door. Wearing his traveling leathers, the warrior had his sword hanging from his belt. Normally he wouldn’t travel through the city armed, but he figured this was a special occasion. As he walked through town, many people nodded and smiled as he passed. Some called to him by name, offering greetings as he moved into the Old Town section of Stormwind. Finally, Shadhemir found himself standing in front of the Command Center. The door was open wide, so Shad stepped inside and waited a moment for his eyes to adjust.

“May I help you?” a young man asked, stepping up to Shadhemir. Shad looked around and noticed the man he was looking for talking in a small group across the room.

“I’d like to speak with him,” Shad answered. “Could you let him know that Evan Shadhemir would like a moment with him?”  The young man nodded and walked over to the group, relaying the message quietly.  The group looked at Shadhemir for a moment before one of the men started walking towards him.

“How may I help you, baron?” the gentleman asked.

“Mr. Germaine,” Shad began with a nod. “I was hoping that you could assist me.”

“How can I help?” Ander Germaine asked.

“I need to be better with this,” Shad said, patting his hand against the sword hanging at his side. “I would like you to train me.”

When I'm famous I'm going to take a selfie and post one on my Tumblr for the first time, and my followers will be like "haha, very funny" but then they'll reverse search the image and find that MY BLOG IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THAT PHOTO.
