More than a moment..
Off in the distance you see rolling hills. A beautiful green pasture in front of you. The cool breeze against your cheeks; a perfect contrast with the warmth of the rays of sun against your face. You smell the grass, the trees, the light moisture in the air. You hear the sounds of the leaves on the trees gently moving from the breeze. The grass at your feet lightly brushing your legs. My hands on your shoulders, running down your arms to your hands. Our fingers interlaced together. I wrap my arms around you. Your back against my chest. You feel safe, calm, this is exactly where you're meant to be. The sky begins to ignite as the sun slowly drops behind the hills. The shades of yellow, orange, blue, and purple. You feel them all shining through you. The suns rays are racing through the sky. Pushing the cool air over the hills and into the pasture. You can see the wind coming towards us. Before it reaches you, you close your eyes, leaning your head back on my shoulder. You're taking it all in. The breeze pushes against you, pushing your hair from your face. I rest my cheek on your forehead as you squeeze my hands with yours. We never want this moment to end, I could hold you forever, just like this. Our eyes open to watch the sun disappear behind the hills, the shadows tell us this moment is coming to an end. We push this moment to its limits, the darkness pushing us to leave. You look up at me, our eyes connecting through the dim light. As I spin you around, I keep you close, my lips landing on yours. Your hands on the back of my neck, my hands gently holding your cheeks. My lips slowly pull away from yours, your grip tightens on my neck as you pull closer; holding this kiss for just one more second. Your grip loosens as our lips slowly drift apart. My forehead still pressed against yours, our eyes locked together, looking deeper into each other than anyone knew was possible. Our hearts racing, no where we'd rather be. For us, the moment is never over. From looking into your eyes, holding your hand, kissing your lips, to being thousands of miles away. We're always together, we're always close, we're always us.
Feeling so lucky to be here at @harvard for the #ivygen conference for first generation college students. What an amazing community and a wonderful initiative. So many inspiring speakers, who are teaching us how to lead our schools as first gen students. Such incredible solidarity! I feel so lucky to be here, and to be at @columbia #morethanamoment
One Year Later Campaign
On February 19, 1vyG 2016, the inter-Ivy, First-Generation Students’ Conference, will take place at Harvard University. Our class confession page, as well as the modern Class Confessions movement, originated from 1vyG 2015, and #OneYearLater, we are returning to the conference to revisit issues on socioeconomic diversity and first-generation status. In cooperation with other Class Confessions pages, we are launching a short campaign called the One Year Later Campaign, documenting the experiences of the 1vyG attendees as public class confessions, to bring greater awareness to first-generation / low-income statuses and their effects on us. Follow our posts through the #OneYearLater hashtag, as well as #1vyG, #classconfessions, and #MoreThanAMoment!
