Mojo consistently makes some of my favorite dark underground trap music. He knows exactly which producers to work with, and they all have a mutual respect for him cause everyone knows the music’s gonna be A1. One of Mojo’s greatest strengths is how consistently in-pocket his flows are with the beat, and that’s not easy with how experimental & unorthodox some of this production tends to be. He fills an important creative lane, and he does it as well as anyone, and that’s why a new Yung Mojo tape is always worthwhile.

Tread music is arguably the most unique variant of trap music since Chief Keef put drill on the map with “I Don’t Like” in 2012. The Philadelphia-based, Working On Dying-produced subgenre is unmistakable with its barrage of 808 bass and consistently high bpm, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the sound take over in 2017. If you’re looking for an introduction to the new style, look no further than Morgue!’s “1990MORGUE”, where the tread production is at both times intense and unrelenting.
