CONGRATS ON YOUR 1K FOLLOWER MILESTONE BB!!!!!!! so while you consider popping a moet & chandron for fun, consider this also: AU where barba went to princeton. and by that i mean jersey shore barba. who picked up the accent, tacky fashion (with the obligatory faux fur), and the real housewives of new jersey. MUCHO LOVE AND MUCHO GRACIAS CHIQUITA XXXXXXXX
THE THINGS YOU DO TO ME GIRL. I LOVE YA, BUT REALLY?
So this is going to be super stereotypical and terrible, and I’m sorry to anyone from New Jersey, but I’m gonna have to go all in on this one, okay? And this comes from someone who knows NOTHING about the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
After being waitlisted and then eventually accepted to Harvard, a young Rafael Barba decided to choose the University that accepted and put their faith in him from the get-go: Princeton University, located in none other than New Jersey.
Everything is legal in New Jersey.
And Rafael had swore to himself that he would not let one of the most despised states change him, for indubitably the worse.
But not all promises are created equal.
The first thing to go was his accent: his words, preened and primed for the New York courthouse were now bogged down: his rolling ‘Rs’ slipping into hard ‘Rs,’ his succinct ‘Ts’ now accompanied by a hiss, and his final ‘T’ was amended to have a distinct ‘Uh’ attached to the end.
The second thing to go were his fashion penchants, his simple and preppy fashion degenerating into the tacky and garish techniques as pigeon-holed and advertised by the state itself, complete with flashy colors, booty shorts, faux fur, and even a perhaps misguided pouf.
The third thing to go were his friends, now replaced with the Real Housewives of New Jersey, who had happened across during one of his all-night excursion with some new acquaintances. The wives had taken a liking to him, inviting him back on multiple occasions, especially when their husbands were away ;).
After he graduated and eventually returned to New York, some changes had to take place, as Lucia Barba was not having any of the fashion choices (or mistakes as she called them), nor was she fielding any of the calls from depressed NJ housewives (she eventually blocked their numbers).
And eventually, his New Yorker accent returned.
Sometimes if he isn’t too careful, an hard ‘R’ would slip from his tongue, drawing some confusion and amusement from his colleagues.
But hey! At least his work has a flair for the dramatics now, thanks to the housewives’ lessons :)
