Whumpers who make sudden, threatening movements on purpose just to see Whumpee flinch.
Even better if Whumper lets out a chuckle at how easy it is to get a reaction out of their victim. Just goes to show how much power they truly have over Whumpee.

Whumper has Whumpee at their mercy, and notices the latter's nervousness at what's to come. To calm them down, Whumper gently takes Whumpee's trembling hand in theirs. They caress it gently like a parent would comfort a child.
Before immediately snapping Whumpee's fingers backwards with a sickening 'crack'.

The idea of Whumper and Whumpee having different religious beliefs is very intriguing to me. Like, imagine this:
Religious Whumper reassuring Atheist Whumpee that this is all a part of God's plan. The pain Whumper is putting Whumpee through is a test to make them stronger; to intensify their faith. Whumpee retaliates by stating that if God was really merciful, He wouldn't make people suffer in order to believe. And aren't humans supposed to have free will?
Alternatively, Whumper is an atheist who's mocking Whumpee's faith:
"Where are your precious gods now? How come they haven't saved you yet, hm?"
"If there is a God, He's probably crueler than me. After all, He's letting me do this to you."
Whumpee survives the torture and pain by clinging to their faith and praying; choosing to believe God will save them somehow.
Bonus points if Whumper's goal is to strip Whumpee of their faith or convert them.
I love it when Whumper openly admits that Whumpee doesn’t deserve what’s being done to them, but keeps hurting them anyway. There’s just something about being simultaneously self-aware and ruthless that interests me.
Like, you expect the perpetrator to have some kind of guilt or internal conflict, but they just go on like usual. Like hurting Whumpee is as natural as brushing one's teeth.
Whumpee is a criminal on the run from the cops. They're abducted and forced to work for Whumper; someone whose crimes are even worse than Whumpee's, though Whumper is better at hiding them and has quite a lot of power and influence.
Whumpee doesn't want to help Whumper commit these crimes, but knows Whumper will rat them out to the cops if they don't. And even if Whumpee did try to tell the cops about Whumper's crimes, they'd never be believed anyway.
After all, would you believe a cowardly, impulsive crook with no proof or an elite businessperson?
(Would also be interesting if Whumpee tried to rob Whumper or something, and that's how they peaked Whumper's interest. Maybe Whumpee managed to evade more security than Whumper thought possible.)
