Why early morning dives are often the best
Some of the most memorable dives start before the day really begins.
Early in the morning, the ocean often feels calmer. The surface is smoother, the light is soft, and the reef seems to wake up slowly. Fish schools move quietly through the water, and the visibility can be surprisingly clear.
There’s also something special about entering the water while the coastline is still peaceful. Fewer boats, fewer distractions, just the rhythm of breathing underwater.
That’s why many divers like starting the day with a sunrise dive, especially in places like Tulamben or Amed on Bali’s east coast.
Later, when I wanted to explore more dive sites in that region, I came across this guide about diving in Amed which explains why the conditions there are often perfect for relaxed morning dives.
Sometimes, the best way to dive is simply to start early.
