❛ I think they found their way home, ❜ was her first remark when they returned to what was left of Lake Nostos. Her voice was slightly breathless as they had ran the whole way, eager to help their friends. However, there was no trace of them or, in fact, anyone else. Glancing to her right, Mulan wondered what to do now. This mission was over, she supposed. It was time to find Phillip’s soul. Her jaw set as a small voice complained that she didn’t really want to do that. Here she was, her hands still shaking from holding Aurora’s heart, and she didn’t want to lose her.
Shifting her gaze to the ground, she felt something tighten in the pit of her stomach. Guilt. Shame. Disgust. Phillip was her friend. They had saved each other’s lives more times than she could count. In fact, once she had been afraid of losing him. But this was different. Somehow, it was different, and she loathed herself for thinking in this manner. Her friends were in love; they were True Loves, as it was. If Mulan had any regard for the happiness of her friends, she would forget these intrusive thoughts, and focus on how to solve the problem at hand.
❛ I think it is our time to find what we seek. ❜
