Okay, well, even if we assume that in order to resurrect Baghra's sister he had to turn her into an amplifier comparable to the Firebird, then why did she die and her gift was passed on to anyone, let alone our fuckboy? She was supposed to be the immortal incarnation of the Phoenix, for that matter.

So Ilya wanted to create connected amplifiers because why? Assuming that Mal is this broken, poor-working amplifier because he didn't even die and was a last minute retcon, so we can't really take Alina's ending in face-value…

to be at least a little more believable, the plot with the amplifiers had to include the Stag, the Unicorn and the Dragon.

And if the Sea Whip can be taken for a dragon, then the stupid tracker doesn't look like a unicorn in any way. I mean, he doesn't look like the Firebird either—

So, y'know, for all my burning hatred for Alina and Baghra — they are disgusting — you can pry the “Morozova's Amplifiers were only supposed to share power in order to create a full-fledged community for the only Shadow (Sun) Summoner; and Mal just robbed the part that was supposed to stay with Alina and enhance her happiness" headcanon from my cold, dead hands after a bloody battle.

Just saw the person being in Alina's mood while reading about Morozova's amplifiers… I take back all my doubts about Alina's stupidity being unrealistic.

Chapter 7

Now I'm wondering how much worse is Alina's loss since she had two amplifiers making her connection to her powers stronger. She wasn't robbed only of what made her herself, but another two pieces that became a part of her just as much.

Shouldn't that be THE purpose of training?

Since the powers themselves are literally a part of every Grisha, yet amplifier is optional?

She uses her powers as an excuse not to cross the Fold too many times, but she also admits they're truly in excellent condition. Her description of them overflowing with love and affection.

Alina feels sun on her skin and immediately reaches to touch the scales. They're all one now.

Geez, Alina! Just get yourself a nice bracer, and look for other ways to develop your powers, than "honing the Cut".

I think even if there IS a draw between the amplifiers, this is purely mental issue. Alina hit a dead end in all her efforts, she has no one to turn to for help, so she focuses on that one thing, that would surely change everything. Getting more power became her universal solution, succumbing to pre-existing connection partly absolves her of blame for possible consequences. Sure, it's still "greed", but she's just a weak girl way in over her head, how is she to resist?

Chapter 20

Malyen's famous poster abuser boyfriend moment and Alina's words- simple and clear. She'd NEVER give up her powers. At least that's her "selfish" independent self talking.

If Aleksander were the third amplifier, Alina already claimed him by the end of the second book.

She doesn't have to notice, since him being alive might make it different AND her shame and prejudice already make it hard for her to admit they have ~anything~ in common.

The Malyen fiasco might be anything from overloading Morozova's collection to being too powerful and untrained to instinctively grasp merzost to save him.
