Fics where Apollo doesn't ascend back to godhood and stays mortal. Pleaaaseeeee!
Hey there! I've only found three, so here's what we've got...
On godhood by somerandomoaktree
Apollo completed his trials, and was offered everything he had wanted during those long months of suffering. But, somehow, he didn't want to be a god anymore. He refused his father's offer. It was time to learn to be a human.
run for your children, for your sisters and your brothers by @iicaru2
Six months ago, Apollo was cast out of Olympus as a sixteen-year-old mortal as punishment for allowing the prophecy to be revealed too early— even though a prophecy, by design, cannot be “too early,” but he digressed. Today, a seventeen-year-old boy named Lester Papadopoulos stumbles out of the Empire State building, plants his clammy hands on his bloodstained knees, and promptly anxiety vomits onto the concrete. (Or: After his trials are over, Apollo chooses to stay mortal. The aftermath is both more and less horrible than he could’ve possibly imagined.)
Build It Bigger Than The Sun by @seavoice
An eternity. And an end. There are nearly unreconcilable differences between now and then, between boy and god, but one thing remains the same: the Fates can never let him stay, and they can never let him be happy. This is no longer looking like a good idea.
Apollo chooses to remain mortal. Surprisingly, it’s not the end of his journey.
We hope you enjoy! Leave kudos, leave a comment, and happy reading!
