you can't save them all. no matter how quick you swing. no matter how many zombies you punch. people are going to die. perry repeated this mantra as he swung over ravenous hordes of the undead. was he partially to blame for unleashing these monsters onto halcyon city? possibly. did he feel bad that innocents were caught in the crossfire? possibly. was he going to make up for that now by saving as many people as he could? definitely. so it was rafi's luck that gossamer had been overhead when he was cornered by a gnarly zombie. he swings down low, scooping him up with one arm while holding onto his webbing with the other hand. " did you try to tell them you weren't on the menu? " perry jokes, soaring above dark streets while zombies roam the streets beneath. " I tried to tell 'em that, and they just snarled at me. rude, right? "

（     •°•  ⚠  •°•         /        ⭑      ）michelette  couldn't  say  they  fully  knew  the  suffering  of  the  people  in  halcyon;  once  they  retrieved  and  passed  off  the  darkhold,  their  work  was  done,  so  to  speak.  the  life  of  a  mercenary,  not  all  that  concerned  with  morality.  though,  if  they  knew  the  unleashing  of  monsters  was  the  end  result,  they  may  have  shown  a  bit  more  discernment  with  the  job  …  then  again,  the  money  would  have  probably  course-corrected  their  view.  paid  and  healed  from  their  garnered  injuries,  the  french  beauty  was  ready  to  resume  business  as  usual.  with  the  streets  safer,  michelette  took  a  chance  to  browse  the  high  end  part  of  town;  a  need  for  a  latte  before  they  shop  at  a  luxury  store  of  sorts.  they  deserved  it  for  being  so  pretty.

“  mmm  …  merci  ~  ”  the  lust  mercenary  winks  as  their  vanilla  cappuccino  is  brought  and  made  to  perfection.  do  they  get  off  on  the  server  trying  to  inconspicuously  stare  at  their  tits  ?  perhaps.  but  they  are  no  target  or  point  of  interest,  so  it's  little  more  than  child's  play  to  them.  but  maybe  the  buff  stranger  with  a  …  sunny  disposition  behind  them  would  be  a  better  selection  considering  they  had  just  been  made  one  of  the  sovereign  seven.  for  now  though,  michelette  just  thought  they  were  cute,  giving  a  little  lilt  and  sip  as  they  walk  by:  will  he  take  the  bait  ?

so much had been lost during the course of the endless night, and perry's memories had been one of many casualties. the story that hive had been controlling gossamer via brainwashing the entire time seemed entirely plausible to perry who could hardly remember anything. he remembered his name, his identity as gossamer, and little else. he felt as though he had been abandoned with no friends or family to call his own. he had a budding relationship, but that was hardly a comfort in the face of existential dread. gossamer refused to roll over and take it, however. he would start life anew, and he needed coffee to do so. deja brew was still a favorite of the spider who stopped in to grab an iced coffee before he started apartment hunting. en route to the counter, he bumped into somebody who should have been familiar. their shoulders collide, sending rafi's coffee tumbling out of his hands. using his reflexes, perry was able to catch the cup before it collided with the floor and any of its contents were spilled. " sorry about that. " he offers an apologetic smile, offering rafi his coffee. " what'd you get? it looks good. "

This was the end of the world. Or, at least, that's what it felt like.

Fire was everywhere, people were panicking, literal zombies were walking the Earth... it was a nightmare, but even Jack found himself out in the frontlines. Of course, he wasn't trying to fight the monstrosities - not unless he absolutely had to. No, he was focused on trying to evacuate as many people as possible and checking on those that needed help more than others - like those in the nursing home - and that meant putting himself in the middle of it so that others could focus on the aftermath.

Wearing his suit, the soldier found himself heading out of the school that he had made as an evacuation zone when he saw someone running with a flying beast chasing after them. Immediately he sprang into action, running as fast he could - which was certainly faster than an average human - before he jumped, leaping towards the winged creature. With a hand balled into a fist, Jack landed a punch on the beast's chest, knocking him out of the sky. As Jack landed on the ground, he turned to look over at the person that had been running.

"Quick, get inside the school. You will be safe there," Jack said, the voice modulator in his suit changing his voice to avoid people from being able to recognize it from his own - or that of Patriot's.

Without waiting to see what the other would do, or say, he turned to face the winged creature once more.

"fuck," godefrius hissed from between his teeth. prince lysandros had proven himself to be quite the crafty man, escaping the guards' watch from time to time, that the king now ordered godefrius to keep watch over the prince. thus, the lord commander spent half his time shadowing prince lysandros and keeping track of his movement. godefrius had made the mistake of lowering his guard because, for the longest time, he perceived prince lysandros as, well, the prince with a penchant for running away unnoticed and nothing more, and it cost him his dignity.

who knew that lysandros' cunning streak could go beyond?

godefrius knew that he could easily unravel his restrained wrists with only a touch of his magic, but every time lysandros took him into his mouth, the wet heat sent his brain fizzling and all thoughts disappeared. "fuck, p--lysandros," the lord commanded let out a wholehearted moan, pelvis tilting forward. if his brain was working properly, he would have balked, he would have tried to push lysandros away, but it felt like all blood had rushed southward, to his length that disappeared inside the prince's mouth. kneeling in front of the lord commander, the prince sure painted a beautiful picture. "let me go so i can fuck you properly, little prince," godefrius murmured, all lust-addled voice, a low growl in his throat.

surreal  was  a  strong  word,  but  darius  had  no  other  to  explain  how  all  this  felt  to  him.  seeing  regia  ignis  overflow  with  people  from  all  across  the  realm  filled  him  with  dread  up  to  the  point  that  he  fled  the  palace  to  clear  his  mind  &  forget  about  the  coronation  for  a  little  while.  drakereach  was  alive  with  the  thunder  of  celebration,  its  winding  streets  overflowing  with  travelers  from  every  corner  of  the  realm  as  well.  market  stalls  groaned  under  the  weight  of  exotic  goods,  their  merchants  calling  out  in  a  dozen  different  tongues,  while  the  scent  of  roasting  meats  &  spiced  wine  thickened  the  air.

minstrels  played  lively  tunes  on  every  street  corner,  their  melodies  weaving  through  the  laughter  &  cheers  of  revelers.  golden  banners  bearing  the  sigil  of  the  skywarden  line  draped  from  balconies,  fluttering  in  the  mountain  breeze.  nobles  in  silken  finery  rubbed  shoulders  with  battle-scarred  warriors  &  foreign  dignitaries  watched  in  fascination  as  fire-dancers  twirled  &  leapt,  their  movements  casting  flickering  shadows  against  the  ancient  stone.  as  night  approached,  the  city  glowed  with  lantern  light  &  the  distant  roar  of  dragons  overhead  reminded  all  who  had  gathered  (including  darius  unfortunately)  that  this  was  no  mere  festival—this  was  the  dawn  of  a  new  reign.

though  one  face  in  the  crowd  piqued  his  interest.  of  course  he  was  here.  little  smile  on  his  lips,  he  grabbed  a  mug  from  the  bar  &  leaned  in  to  clank  it  against  the  other's,  shoulder  bumping  into  his.  "look  who  the  cat  dragged  in."

two decades of working with his majesty had made godefrius wonder what made him stay this long. it was definitely the life oath he took when he was appointed as a kingsguard the first time, but he held no attachment to chasque or its inhabitant. there were monsters roaming out there, waiting for a chance to pounce and sow chaos, but as godefrius was no longer an independent agent, his hands were tied, and all he could do was wait for his majesty's order and delegate. all because, as his majesty had said, he was to oversee the protection details over the royal family. it ought to be easy, if only one of the princes stopped disappearing under the guards' watch thus making it one of the reasons behind his persistent headache.

godefrius didn't order a massive, kingdom-wide search for the prince. aside from being unnecessary, it could lead to widespread chaos if people talked -- judging from the previous attempts, they did talk as most of them were horrid gossipers -- and godefrius didn't want any more reasons for his headache. the market was an ever-bustling place filled with loud noises that it was nearly overwhelming to godefrius. people gave him a wide berth as he walked deeper into the market but he paid them no mind, only offering an occasional nod to some people whose faces he recognized. on his third rotation, he noticed the presence of a bard near the tavern and, following his whims, made his way to them. upon closer look, the bard was somewhat familiar, but godefrius couldn't put a name on their face. something about the bard tickled his senses and his intuition told him to stay put... so he did.

the  sight  was  truly  mesmerizing,  streets  bathed  in  sunlight,  people  from  all  over  the  realm  singing  &  dancing  together,  celebrating  life  in  its  purest  form  for  without  generous  harvests,  none  of  them  would  be  here  to  celebrate  this  day.  as  a  warrior,  darius  may  not  appreciate  crops  as  much  as  he  should,  but  as  the  future  leader  of  a  kingdom,  he  sure  did.  unwilling  to  risk  a  refusal  of  a  granted  permission,  darius  had  —  as  the  younglings  would  undoubtedly  call  it,  snuck  out  of  the  palace  to  attend  the  festivities.  he  was  very  well  aware  he  would  be  discovered  &  word  sent  back  to  his  father,  but  in  that  moment,  he  didn't  care  for  the  consequences.  dressed  in  some  of  his  finest  cloth,  vissai's  golden  reputation  embracing  him  whole  &  the  royal  crest  worn  on  a  golden  necklace  left  very  little  up  for  interpretation,  but  darius  came  ..  as  himself  this  time.

given  the  social  streak  of  his  upbringing,  he  was  bound  to  recognize  faces  as  he  went,  but  one  stuck  out  in  the  crowd,  simply  because  of  the  rumors  that  traveled  kingdoms  once  upon  a  time  for  they  reminded  him  of  himself.  just  less  ...successful.  darius  eventually  gave  up  living  a  life  outside  the  castle  walls.  he'd  been  to  the  different  kingdoms  of  this  realm  plenty  of  times  before,  including  chasque,  but  this  time  he  didn't  bear  vissai's  crest  on  his  chest  as  openly,  so  he  didn't  know  if  his  identity  would  even  be  uncovered,  but  with  a  handful  of  fruit,  he  made  his  way  over  regardless,  the  urge  to  bow  in  front  of  another  prince  almost  unbearable,  but  he  wasn't  going  to  draw  attention  to  them  like  this.  instead  a  hand  extended  in  wait,  "may  i  steal  you  away  for  a  moment  or  two?"
