Construction site of the Habitat 67 housing complex in Montréal. Architect Moshe Safdie, structural engineer August Komendant, 1963–1967. Dr. Komendant was an ardent supporter of modular construction. It was not only faster and more efficient to build using factory-made concrete products, but it also enabled the design of a new and different kind of architecture, as demonstrated by Safdie's Habitat 67. Find out more at "Miracles in Concrete", the exhibition showcasing the life and work of the great Estonian structural engineer Dr. Komendant. Open until April 26. NB! A guided tour (in Estonian) at the exhibition this Saturday, starting at 14.
