Narrated Abu Dhar: • I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Which mosque was first built on the surface of the earth?" He said, "Al- Masjid-ul-,Haram (in Mecca)." I said, "Which was built next?" He replied "The mosque of Al-Aqsa ( in Jerusalem) ." I said, "What was the period of construction between the two?" He said, "Forty years." The Quba Mosque of Medina in Saudi Arabia, is one of the oldest mosques in the world. According to sirah, its first stones were positioned by The Prophet as soon as he arrived on his Hijrah (emigration) from the city of Mecca to Medina and the mosque was completed by his companions. According to hadith, The Prophet used to go there, riding or on foot, every Saturday and offer a two rakaat prayer.
