Disclaimer: I just want to clarify that this genius idea is NOT MINE. I’m only posting an original execution by yours truly to share it to you guys and hopefully, it can also benefit you and others as well. Please do be unhesitating to share.
Hello!
So last week was Holy Week and most of us had quite a long weekend to reflect and spend with the loved ones. I must say it was good while it lasted but I’m also glad to be back up here in the mountains to finish my studies. The bad thing is, while my sister and I were away, mosquitoes have invaded our space and it has already been four days now and they’re still alive drinking our blood as if there’s no tomorrow. We are grateful, though, to have in handy an electric mosquito repellent just to ease this burden but it’s not enough because as it gives away, it can only repel but not entirely diminish mosquitoes.
So yesterday, I have completely lost my patience from these bloodsuckers who kept on pestering us each day and night causing us to lose sleep. Suddenly, out of desperation, my light bulb switched as I have recalled a Facebook post about how to make a mosquito trapper. I was so amazed for its simplicity and brilliant invention yet also a little bummed out for only finding it out lately.
And so today, I went to the grocery to buy what I need to create this trapper:
yeast
brown sugar
a liter of soda
Step 1: We have to clean and cut the bottle halfway.
Step 2: Next, we measure 60 mL of brown sugar to be melted into a boiling 200 mL of water. Set aside to cool before pouring to the bottom half of the bottle.
Step 3: Then we have to measure 1 mL of yeast and pour it on the sugar mixture. There’s no need for mixing because the yeast will feed on the sugar and release carbon dioxide to lure mosquitoes in the bottle.
Step 4: Place the top half of the bottle inverted to our bottom half. It’s your choice if you want to seal it together with tape and/or to cover it in black cloth or paper (mosquitoes like it dark).
…And there you have it! Your very own mosquito torture chamber! Yayyy! Well done! Super easy, right? You did not only make a trapper but you have also helped save Mother Nature and we did not use harmful chemicals - au naturel.
