so my sister genuinely just ruined my day..

for context: she was the person who i watched dps with the first two times i ever watched it, so we share dps reels with each other and stuff :) and although she’s not as insane as me over it, she tolerates my insanity and appreciates the movie

anyways she came over randomly and was like “you have to watch this” and then she showed me her screen and a clip of Mr. Anderson (paul rudd) from the perks of being a wallflower started playing with We Hug Now by Sydney Rose in the background. so, as any knowledgeable dps fan would, i RAN AWAY SO FAST because i could smell the todd angst from a mile away.. but she somehow convinced me to come back and finish watching the reel (big mistake on my part) which was indeed todd angst. </3

but here comes the worst part: after that reel ended (absolutely heart-wrenching btw) she scrolled to the next reel under it, that also started playing We Hug Now.. and then a picture of JAMES FUCKING WILSON (house md) SHOWED UP ON THAT SCREEN. WHEN I TELL YOU I STARTED BAWLING. (that’s not even a joke, i actually started crying..) AND I SAW NOTHING LESS THAN AN EQUALLY AS HEART WRENCHING EDIT OF WILSON AND NEIL.

i understand one sad anderperry edit.. BUT TWO CONSECUTIVE ANDERPERRY EDITS WITH THE SAME HEARTBREAKING SONG??? THATS EVIL. (and obviously my sister had to show me that cruel miracle because she loves me so much)

i’m very scarred rn, if you can’t tell.. anyways i just needed to share that with y’all because i’m traumatized… (i’m crying so hard rn)

thoughts found in moving boxes

aka i ramble about a past i never experienced, my parents, and physical media.

i was cleaning out this shelf in my living room filled of old stuff that my parents kept since we’re doing a renovation soon, and as i was going through all of this old stuff i was having a moment.

like, wdym i’m holding the same paper that my mom and her best friends doodled on in class? (if one thing stays the same across time, let it be little notes and hearts scrawled in the margins of math homework)

wdym i’m flipping through the pregnancy calendar my mom filled out while i was a little embryo in her belly?

wdym i’m reading the poems my dad’s middle school friends wrote for him in looping cursive when he graduated from his christian school?

it’s so crazy to realize that my mom was actually such a cool person. and maybe she’s tough on you sometimes, and maybe her voice is a little too sharp cutting over yours in the conversations. but maybe you were exactly like her— if her drawing of spider-woman from 1983 was anything to go off of— and maybe she wants to make sure that this little version of her has every opportunity and ounce of guidance that she never had.

and maybe that’s why i should keep my movies and my drawing and the old flower pressings in my journal. so one day, another kid who thinks that they’re kinda decent at something and read too many books growing up feels like they’re a part of something bigger than themselves.

idk, this wasn’t meant to be existential or anything. but it’s nice to know that eventually someone will remember me for the way i annotate in my favorite books or how i have a box full of letters i could never bring myself to throw away.
