Had a thought
Humans & Dragons
- if humans really did live in a world with dragons (with a preference toward eating people and large enough to do it not as a scavenger), then that could make the relationship between us and them potentially similar to a hawk and a rabbit(or maybe a snake?).
The thing about animals threatened also by *aerial attack* is that they have places to dash into for safety (bushes, bolt holes, logs, etc) and tend to be camouflaged in some way from their coloring when seen from above. And their homes (burrows, nests, etc) also tend to be hidden.
SO - humans and dragons , if the dragons are large enough to eat people and decide to do so, that means cities would likely develop differently in that I dont think they'd be as flashy??
Instead of castles and villages and cities standing out (full of light and sound and color), designs would lean more toward camouflage and disguise and misleading from the air. Made to blend with their surroundings - or at least mimic a natural setting. Cities built to look like the cracked ground of a dry riverbed. Towns that meld with the trees. cities built underground, or underwater. Homes designed to blend with a cliff. Covered streets and easy access tunnels.
Clothes would be more earthen toned, and match their surroundings. There would be sentries and early warning watchers for dragons, ways to set up misleading distractions (a moving trail of sparks and sound?) As everything goes quiet in less than a beat, before the all clear occurs and interrupted conversations continue without hesitation.
ALTERNATIVELY - maybe mankind would develop like poisonous snakes or scorpions. Armored shells and weapons to kill or seriously injure. Bright colors and loud sounds to warn away on threat of pain or death.
Idk - just thoughts on what a society that evolved side by side with aerial predators would look like bc as cool as the standard 'romanticized medieval but add dragons' is, I feel like they would have more of an impact in terms of city planning and fashion choices (though maybe this is why its the royalty and nobility that gets carried off? They dress like gemstones and don't expect to be taken to be added to the dragon's hoard - XD).
Everything (architecture, farming, fashion, weapon/armor design, modes of travel, trade), *everything* would be impacted bc as we are now? Humans have no aerial predators to worry about! (Aside from our own kind with technology but im not getting into that right now). So everything down to our behavior and how we developed as a species would change! Society could look so different!( and yet stay remarkably the same potentially. That whole - 'the more things change the more things stay the same' kind of a deal)
Would we still develop planes? Probably! But they'd be based on dragons instead of birds (or maybe even *more* based on birds for maneuverability? ...probably depend on the behavior of dragons toward birds. Do they ignore them? Eat them? Avoid them?)
How would we change sociologically? Become more tight-niched? More solo? Small groups? Would communities tend to be larger? Smaller? The same? Would the mindset about travel change? Would more people stay close to home? What kind of travel behavior would be developed? Or would traveling be considered even more of a risk? Or maybe its considered a way to be safer? 'Don't stay put and the dragons won't make your travel group easy yearly pickings'?
How about developmentally- would we become shorter and stockier? More thin and lean for running? Would we remain a persistence predator? Would we change based on where we were living? (Short and stocky to mimic and blend in with rocky terrain. Tall and thin to blend and hide amongst the trees or reeds. Short and thin to hide amongst tall grass. Tall and broad to make us more imposing and unappetizing. Guess it would depend on the size of the dragons. (And it would take a while before any evolutionary changes really occurred anyways right?)
Just a thought
yo, I'm bored send questions bout any of my au's
I hate this show what did we do to deserve this we have been good fans haven't we?
Questions I have: How do Banshees work? Kitsune? Werewolves? Demons??? Deaton is lying about something--what? RED??? How deep into 'tween states are we going? Who is hungry? (That doll could have said anything. Hunger is going to be important instead of, say, mothers or some other doll phrase.) "When the door closes, don't open it." Is this really the door in their minds? What is Deaton gaining from this? What is Malia's deal? Where is Cora? Why is Peter still alive? Is Derek a beta forever? Will Kira be our new Guide character, with Stiles out of commission?
I have more, but they're more focused on previous seasons. ("Motel California," anyone?)
Here's hoping I don't get nightmares from further episodes!
P.S. How far into Inception is Stiles, really? Is this season even reality at all? Can any POV be trusted anymore?
