Ok, so I know I've left a few comments about this so please don't think I'm annoying, I just think you'd write the characters so well since you write dialogue so good.
I'm a huge fan of your MOTA fic, Bucky and Stella are basically my otp, but would you ever be interested in doing anything for The West Wing? Have you seen the West Wing? The characters are so amazing and there are so many storylines, I'd love to see what you could do with them. Sam, CJ, Josh, anyone. I would read anything you wrote.
Hello! Thank you for enjoying True North! I also love Bucky and Frank so much, and I hope to have more of their story out in the next few weeks! Thank you for reading!
As it turns out, I have seen The West Wing and am also a fan. Although there are certain people and seasons that aren't my fav. I hadn't ever considered writing anything for it, especially since they deal with a lot of things I don't fully understand enough to write about. But after rewatching seasons one and two while I’ve been sick, the thought has developed a bit.
And well…
Words: 421 (it’s just a preview, if there’s enough interest perhaps there will be many chapters more.)
Warnings: 18+ MDNI | suggestive content, mention of sex, Natalie is mine. She doesn’t work in the White House.
Pairing: Josh Lyman/Original Female Character (although I’d like the record to show I do love Donna and Josh)
“Hey—”
“I’ve been thinkin’ about you all day.”
Natalie slipped her hands along Josh’s shoulders, feeling the strong muscles as he walked her back into her apartment, one arm wrapped around her waist while the other took hold of the front door and swung it closed behind him before he fumbled for the lock.
“You can’t think about me all day,” Natalie’s voice hitched at the end as Josh pressed an open mouthed kiss to her neck, “you’re the Deputy Chief of Staff—you need to be thinking about more important things. Like—”
“Like how my head’s gonna explode if you’re not naked and on the bed in five seconds.” Josh tossed his backpack onto the couch as they passed, his now free hand tugged at his tie as he pressed a quick, albeit hot kiss to her mouth.
“Bad day?”
“I don’t even know.” Josh tossed his tie towards the dresser as they entered her bedroom and Natalie gently unbuttoned the once crisp off-white button down, “All I’ve been thinkin’ about is you.”
Natalie made a noise that was a cross between a hum and a tsk, watching as his white undershirt, as well as thin tuffs of chest hair, appeared as she undid his shirt. “Someone is going to notice.”
“Toby already has.” Josh unbuttoned the buttons at his wrists as she slipped her hands around his waist to pull the material out, the dress shirt fell to the floor seconds later. “It’s only a matter of time before Donna does.” Natalie gently tugged on his belt buckle and Josh grunted before a slow smirk fell across his face. “Did you miss me?”
“Like a thorn in my side.”
“So yes?”
Natalie laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck, Josh’s open palms curved along her back and waist as they kissed slowly. Their foreheads touched when they parted and Natalie gently brushed her nose along his, relishing in the quiet, uninterrupted moment they had.
“Hi.”
Josh’s dimple appeared and the look that always made her stomach twist spread across his face, brown eyes hooded as he brought one of his hands up to cup the side of her face.
“Hi.”
They let a few seconds settle in the silence before their lips met, and while it was unclear who started the first kiss or who began the next, it was incredibly obvious where they were heading as Josh nudged her back a few steps until she felt the edge of the bed brush the back of her knees.
The real question, since they weren’t exactly supportive, is does her family care that they don’t know where she is?
And is the asshole ex going to be seen again before the war is over?
I think when it comes to Frank's family, somewhere, deep down, they do miss her and they wonder where she is. Her mother probably wonders if she's ok, if she's safe. I think they probably miss her as the girl they knew, not the woman she is, and if they knew her now they wouldn't be happy.
My take on them is that they're more upset with where they went wrong. "What did we do that was so wrong that she turned out this way? She was such nice girl, what happened? What did we do to deserve this? All we've done for her..."
As for the ex, I'm not sure if he'll make an appearance. I didn't have any plans for him to, but if we want to see a story line or something I wouldn't be opposed. He divorced her pretty quickly and his reputation and standing with the town only got better since she was the one at fault.
Any chance you have a MOTA holiday snippet written? 🥹
Yes!!! We definitely can!
18+ MDNI | Smut, morning sex, references to war and PTSD.
There was a chill in the air, the very early morning sunlight seeping in from behind closed curtains. In the background, Frank could hear the gentle rattle of pots and pans and the muffled sound of people talking. Turning her head, she kept her eyes closed, nuzzling her face into the soft pillow when she felt a hand slide along her hip and over the curve of her waist, long fingers spread out low on her round stomach as they slipped under her nightgown, finding bare skin to caress moments later.
She pulled the quilt tighter, toes curling when she felt warm lips kiss first her shoulder and then her neck before they found her ear, the soft hair above his upper lip tickling her in the best way.
“Merry Christmas, Angel.”
John Egan’s morning voice, deep and low in her ear, would always make her toes curl. Her body very aware of him as he resumed his soft kisses along her neck, hand sliding up her body and over her very pregnant stomach.
She was months away from her estimated due date, only two more to go until they would have a little one of their own. Something that still didn’t feel real and Frank often found herself wondering if she was dreaming. Wondered if this was really happening. Had they really made it through everything?
It was something they often discussed. In the early morning hours when Bucky would thrash from a nightmare, he’d always wake up sweating and panting, scrambling to lean against the headboard as he reached for her, cradling her into his trembling body as he asked her over and over if this was real. If they were safe and if it was over.
Frank struggled too, her heart pounding at the strangest of times, the brunette alternating between fear of losing the baby and the hard memories swirling in the back of her mind. The last was a few weeks ago, when she went Christmas shopping with Bucky’s sisters. They were in the middle of a cute boutique not far from Bucky’s childhood home, Frank giggling as she watched from the comfortable chair as Frances and Eileen bickered about which hat their mother would like best. It was so fast, so unexpected, the girls ribbing one another in a sisterly way when an older car drove by out front, grunting and groaning as it shimmied down the road, the glass shop door opening as a woman walked in seconds later.
The smell of gasoline filled her nose and Frank found herself transported back to England. The sickening crunch of metal on metal filling her ears, her entire body bracing for an impact that wouldn’t come.
Not again, at least.
The smell of jet fuel burned her nostrils then and now, her head turned sharply as she battled with the past and present, hands shaking as she reached behind her, neck damp.
Frances was the first to notice their very pale sister in law, moving quickly to check in with Frank. Eileen on the other side as she brushed hair behind her ear. Frances worked her through some breathing techniques that she was working with other men and women on in the hospital, gently asking if she had any pain or discomfort.
Frank shook her head, thankful for the Egan family once she was firmly back in the present. Her main concern now that there was something wrong with the baby. Frances quickly assured her that wasn’t the case, her arm around her sister in law’s shoulders as they exited the store and made their way back home.
Frank tilted her head as she forced memories from her brain, wanting to focus on their quiet morning as Bucky’s hand slid between her swollen breasts until he brushed the sensitive skin of her neck, hand cupping her chin to turn it, his lips meeting hers for a soft good morning kiss.
They kissed slowly, languidly in the morning light. Ignoring the sounds of Bucky’s family, all of them no doubt eager to begin the infamous Egan Christmas morning. Buck and Marge would drop by later and spend the next three or four days with them before the newlyweds went on to Wyoming as they ventured out to the Egan’s cabin.
Frank gasped, her hands sliding into her husband's hair as he shifted above her, mindful of her large stomach as he hovered, deepening their kiss. This position was harder to manage now that she was so big, and while she absolutely craved being able to wrap her legs around him as he sank into her, thick and long and so deep, she found herself growing more and more aware that it wouldn’t be much longer that they needed to be creative.
Soon they would have a baby. Soon they would have a little family. A little boy or girl, Frank hoping they’d have his curls and her eyes, his smile and her nose. A little baby, made with love, not long after they reunited all those months ago in Paris. The soft sounds of bells reminding her of that special night. The one she promised to love him forever, his fingers laced with hers as he repeated the vows back to her, the broken English of the priest making them both smile.
But for now, Frank arched into her husband, his hands turning her hips until her back was to his chest, one of his hands sliding between her legs as the other cupped her breast, his lips working a mark onto the side of her neck.
“John.”
“I’m here, baby.” Bucky’s fingers filled her well, although they didn’t scratch the itch that was currently growing there, his fingers stroking her teasingly as she tilted her head back against his shoulder, hips bucking to try to get more.
“Don’t tease,” Frank panted, groaning when he skimmed past the area she wanted him to touch, “we don't have time.”
His laughter filled her ear and he kissed between her shoulders, fingers moving from between her legs to scramble for his shorts. “We’ll have all the time in just a few weeks—promise I’ll ravish you all day and night as soon as we’re in our own house.”
“I’ll hold you to that, Major.”
“I know you will, Lieutenant Colonel.”
Frank laughed, shaking her head as she felt him grin into her shoulder. “You’re never going to let that one go, are you?”
“Gets me hard every time.” He shifted them again, her lips parting as he slipped inside her, filling her so well, one of his hands wrapped around her thigh as he controlled their motions. “But you’ll always be my captain.”
Frank sighed, moaning softly as he continued to rut into her, finding that spot he refused to stroke with his fingers minutes ago, her hips chasing his as she moved back against him. “When things were easier.”
Bucky laughed at that, arm wrapped around her now as he growled into her neck, hips quickening, “Easier, maybe. But I’m happy where we are now.”
Frank nodded in agreement, definitely not wanting to relive those months right now. It was an easier time, sure, when they were sneaking around and spending nights in the pub, but it was the climb before the fall, the high before the pain, and she absolutely didn’t want to go through all that again.
“Oh, John…”
“Shhh Angel,” Bucky grunted as he gripped her hips, one hand flattened under her stomach to hold her there, “Can’t be too loud. Don’t want Santa to hear. We’ll get coal.”
Frank’s giggles turned into moans, her neck extended as he held her still, thrusting into her at the exact angle they both needed, her lips parting in a silent cry before he covered them with his own, the couple tumbling over the edge together.
Their kisses were needy now, both finding comfort and safety in the arms of their lover, Frank rolling until she was in her spot against Bucky’s chest, cuddled into his arm as she stroked his sweaty skin, their bodies slowly coming down from their quick highs.
“Merry Christmas, John.” Frank slipped her hand over his cheek, kissing him softly as they both caught their breaths. She just shifted, preparing herself to climb off the bed and clean up before they were interrupted when Bucky caught her elbow and pulled her back to him, spooning her softly in their rumpled bed.
“Just a few minutes,” Bucky whispered into her neck, holding her close as he grounded himself to his wife, hand pressed to her stomach as a little foot or hand kicked at it over and over again. Something their baby loved doing. “Just wanna enjoy this.”
Harding choked on his scotch, sputtering into the glass as he glanced wide eyed towards the couple, unsure if he really heard the exchange correctly of if he’d had one too many of these already.
I hope you’re doing well and that things are mostly uneventful back home. I know the 29th is coming up and even though I’m not there, I’m thinking of you. Make sure you tell everyone hello for me, even Lowell. If he’s still in the picture...
England is rainy. The weather is temperamental, and even though it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen, you’d hate it. It’s a long walk just about everywhere, often in the rain and mud. I was able to acquire a pair of bicycles from one of the villagers for Buck and I. He’s not as excited about the bike as I am. Things are wonderful and terrible at the same time. Boys go up and they don’t come back, but we make the most of it. The pub down at the village is one of our favorite places, they let me sing from time to time and only boo occasionally. You’re probably wondering why I’m writing so late, since Dad’s anniversary will have passed by the time you get this. Better late than never, right?
The truth is, I’ve been trying to write this letter for over a week now. I’ve started it dozens of times, I think, and canned each of the previous attempts. Each time I get to this part I either ramble or it just doesn’t make sense or I feel like a loon, so I’m going to keep it short: I met a girl. She occupies most of my thoughts now, and the boys give me a hard time. They think I don’t know about their on-going bets, but I do. I won’t spoil their fun. She’s a pilot for the Air Transport Auxiliary and she’s really something else, Mom. I’ve never met anyone like her. I don’t think there are enough words to describe her, so I won’t. But just know she’s it for me. I know we joked before I left about not falling in love with an English girl, but I can’t promise that I won’t come home with a wife from Texas. If she’ll have me, that is.
Keep your chin up this week, I’m there with you in spirit. Pray we kick Hitler’s butt soon and we can come home.
I'm so curious about Frank's thoughts on having children with Bucky. Like due to her past experiences is she worried??? scared??? anxious?? I mean i know I would be after a marriage like that. Not only that but her chance of having a miscarriage is pretty high bc she's flying to dangerous areas now and the stress or if she gets heavily injured dadadada what if she gets discharged??? I have so many questions honestly😭
And with her love gone in a shitty Stalag how will she cope??? THEIR DREAMS LITERALLY COLLAPSED
And omg the fact that Bucky's demeanour changes so much after his TWO YEARS in that shit hole, like will they talk about that??? WILL THEY MARRY??
WILL HE PROPOSE????????????
WHAT ABOUT DOROTHY WILL SHE KNOW THEIR PLANS??? omg.
You wouldn't...kill off Dorothy...would you???
WOULD YOU????????
My god- lets say Buck and Frank got along so well and Bucky tells Buck that they want children and he would be kinda proud bc his best friend went from global manwhore to sickeningly in love an committed husband
I can so see him walking up to Frank and asking
"What did you do to him?"
No bc the suspense the wait all of it will kill me. IF THE SMOKING WONT THIS WILL😭😭
This why my parents hate me; the slightest thing and I come up with ten thousand questions istg
By the time Frank and Bucky have that conversation in London, SO MUCH will have happened, and I think there's part of her that just wants to make something wonderful with him. Something that's theirs, and that's safe, and that's from love. She's not ready to get married again yet, and he knows it, but the way she feels when he brings it up just makes her jump all in with the idea. Backwards to what she did the first time, really.
I don't think she thinks of the miscarriage initially, that'll come in the days and weeks after. She's stronger with Bucky, uses him as a crutch a little, and so when he's gone she'll have to stand on her own and fight her own demons.
I could totally see Buck just needing to know what she did to him, hahahahaha. Writing Frank and Buck's reunion was the best and worst thing I've written, because she's like "Is he here?" and Buck has to tell her he didn't make it out with him.
Things are so different here in England! I know we spoke of how different we thought they might be, but it’s unlike anything we imagined. The people are wonderful, though. There’s a definite sense of unity and drive in the air. They’ve seen so much and been through so much, and because of that they will not stop until we are victorious and this war is over.
I spent a week getting acquainted with everyone and going through some basic instruction after arriving, we even stopped off to see a play in London before we received our first assignments! We saw The Lisbon Story at the London Hippodrome, and it was spectacular. Who would’ve thought love and espionage went so well together! I’ve found myself spending my first rotation at RAF (Royal Air Force) Ratcliffe. It’s located in a village by the name of Ratcliffe on the Wreake (which I’ve come to learn is a river) and is a little over one-hundred miles north of London. It’s a beautiful area and there’s a gorgeous castle nearby. Yes, you read that right, a castle! I know Bucky moaned and whined about the weather in all of his letters, but so far it’s been lovely. A bit reminiscent of home, if I’m being honest, and that was certainly a welcomed feeling. I expected to be homesick, but I didn’t expect it to hit me so terribly so quickly.
I hope everyone is well back in Wisconsin! Please keep me updated on Mrs. Walton’s saga with her tenants, I’m just on the edge of my chair waiting to hear what the latest is with them. I’ll be at Ratcliffe for a bit longer, probably until the end of August before I receive my next rotation, so you can write me here. I haven’t seen John yet—but I’ll do you one better. I’ve met his girl! She’s a pilot here at RAF Ratcliffe! Can you believe it? What are the odds? Grandfather would certainly tell us to go down to the track with that luck!
She’s beautiful, mom. You’ll die. She came into the infirmary with an injury and I helped treat her before we started talking and realized who we had in common. Her name’s Stella. Stella Frank. And she’s an ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary) Pilot, and a captain at that! From what I’ve heard from her peers, she’s a rather talented pilot as well, which is how she and John met. I haven’t seen them together, and I haven’t spoken to John yet, but I will write to you the moment I do. From the little I’ve been around her, she’s quiet at first, but opens up pretty quickly. She’s not nearly as exuberant as John, which is good for us all, but I can see why she caught his eye. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know her more and from what her friend has told me, they are rather smitten with each other! I think you may be able to hear wedding bells across the sea!
I hope you’re doing well and keeping your spirits up. Rest easy know that two of your children are not only in the same country, but only a few hundred miles from one another! Send Eileen my love and I’ll write to you soon.
