So in my music history class we started learning about the Classical era and I was super excited about it mostly because I would get to learn more about the actual Mozart. It is so cool to me to get to see the connection between his real life and the Classicaloid TV show. I just love how the creators of this show added little things here and there that connect it to actual history. I wish I could be that creative. ToT 

Anyways, because I wanted to do this for my own satisfaction, I wanted to put the connections online for others to know about so that they might find a deeper connection to the show like I have and have a better appreciation for the thought put into the show’s ideas. (Plus I don’t know if anybody else has done this. If so, check their stuff out too!)

Episode 2: Get it! Musik!

Pad-kun states that Mozart liked pervy sweets.

 Although I could not find anything stating such a thing, he did in fact like scatological humor which he would address to his cousin Maria Anna Thekla through letters. Whether their relationship was sexual or not, it is really up to the reader to determine how they were towards each other.

Episode 7: Mountain King

Motes has flashbacks of his relationship with his mother and takes on a mother persona to a deer who lost its mother. 

Mozart and his mother were sent to Paris in February of 1778 by his father, Leopold Mozart, who was in Salzburg at the time. His mother grew ill and died shortly after in June. Though his father never fully put the blame on Mozart for her death, he did say Mozart’s indolence, lying and improper attention to her added to it which he stated through the letters they would send to each other. Mozart did his best to defend himself.

The Requiem Motes plays in the show

This piece was one of the last works that Mozart wrote before dying on December 5th 1791. It was actually an unfinished piece only going from the Kyrie through the “Confutatis”. Mozart’s wife had to hide the fact that the piece was unfinished to (possibly) still get revenue from it, but eventually over the years, historians found out the truth. Composers since then have taken their own approach of how it might have ended if Mozart got to finish it. 

Episode 12: J. S. Bach

Motes had issues with following the orders of the company’s rules and not being able to perform how he wanted and having flashbacks of his past employers pestering him on being in debt. 

Mozart’s finances were unstable and he was in debt all the way up to his death, but it wasn’t bad enough for him to still live luxuriously. His wife eventually paid off the debt possibly through the income of his music and benefit concerts. 

As for Mozart wanting more musical freedom, he did reject court musical life and disliked his employer, Colloredo, at the time he worked in Salzburg. He performed halfheartedly until he could get out of his contract in 1777.
