Some moth Balan doodles!

In my last Balan post, @chuwush mentioned that he should wear a cape that resembled wings! It's a fun idea since his antenna does seem to resemble a moth.

Then I had a little too much fun and added some extra moth-like traits onto him ^^;

His cape design is based off of the Iotaphora Admirabilis (I hope I got the name right). And is one my favorite wing patterns! At first glance, the bottoms of the wings reminded me of piano keys. So I thought this design would look good on Balan, and fully leaned into the piano look! :D

I personally wish I got to draw the pattern more nicely, because this little cutie is just so pretty! 🥺💕 I'll keep practicing though! ^v^

If Balan is a Moth, Lance as a butterfly? Similar, but different.. Just a random idea spare me..

Lol, no worries, you're spared! XD And surprisingly you're not the only one who mentioned about Lance as a butterfly! ^^

Here are some doodles because I really REALLY like that idea! 👀

I'd think that in this case his "wings" are a new addition to his body as a Lance, much like his tendrils.

They're functional but it's not like he needs them, and he'd probably use them solely for gliding around if he's feeling lazy.

Here's another one where I focused on the wings a little more:

I gave them softer colors this time, and I think it came out ok!

His wing design is based off of the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing! :D

Was told that my hatless Balan's hair sticking out at the top looks like antenna! And little fun fact- in some of my super earlier drawings, he actually had antenna! So I did a very rough sketch of him with them! X3

It was when I was guessing what he looked like under the hat! And looking at him now, the antenna kinda seems moth-like. The concept didn't last long since I was only experimenting a bit.

Silly little question.

But Balans a big old Moth man. So.. Does he eat the stereo typical moth things? Such as Heheheheh books and fabric?

(I know usually the larvae do that but shhhh let me be funny..)

Lol, yeah he does!

I love this idea because Balan technically doesn't even NEED to eat. So if anything he's just doing this purely for his own enjoyment. XD

Enough about Balan, he's gotten enough attention /silly.

How about Lance? Any little butterfly things he does? Muahahahahhahahahahahahahaha 💐💥

I'd say that Lance has a few butterfly traits, for one, he's waaaay more into eating sweets than anything else!

Secondly he'd be an excellent dancer, especially while in flight. He can use his wings to navigate through the air effortlessly!

Since both Balan and Lance are competitive for the guest's attention, they battle each other quite often. Lance fights very gracefully, looking more like he's dancing around instead.

He tends to use his brightly colored wings to flash Balan with, temporarily disorienting him to gain the upper hand. (It works really well)

He enjoyed sun bathing a LOT, and misses it so much now that he's no longer a Balan... Nowadays he sometimes continues to do so in secret while our current Balan isn't around.

And for fun! I drew up butterfly Lance when he WAS a Balan:

Yes, he would absolutely love anything super bright in general! I can definitely see that as a distraction for him.

Probably not enough to stop him from his work completely, but definitely would grab more of his attention.

Random things to be just a little evil.

Some Moths are poisonous to birds (Idk if Mothlan's inspired one is or not.) HOWEVER. Mothlan might be poisonous to Hat Eyes!!! Gasp!!

I guess you could call it... Toxic Yaoi? Hehehehehe hehehe sorry I just wanted to make the joke they're fine XD.

*GASP!!!* Oh no!!!

Honestly, I'm not 100% certain if the moth my Balan is based off of is poisonous- lol. Maybe... But it's all good as long as no one chomps on him or anything. XD

I'd say they're safe though! The silly old men..
