So I Hatched a Aether Dragon in Flight Rising

I have a Flight Rising account and got the clanbound Aether Dragon eggs. So here are the bapys! (They are unfortunately yet to be named)

The first one I hatched. I really really like the pallete and element matchup!

The second one I hatched. I think the primary and secondary really complement each other. I think the plague eyes give a slight gremlin energy to me, I don't know why and I kinda like it.

I really love the new Aether breed so much.

Storyteller Saturday: What are the dragons like in your WIP? Are they fierce and mean? Are they smart and clever? Do they amass hordes or treasure or do they just like raining devastation on lesser beings? Or are they something else like purpose-bred weapons or the remnants of an alien civilization?

Dragons! I love dragons so much, it was inevitable that all of my wips have dragons in some form or another. (Yes, even OSS technically has dragons~)

The wip that I was talking about is still very much so in it’s extremely early idea stages, so a lot of this is likely going to change almost completely, but here’s what I have now!

I’m thinking very moth-like dragons. But I use the word “dragons” very lightly because they’re technically aliens of a planet humans colonized a ways back, that happened to somewhat resemble dragons of human stories~ I know there are... so many varieties, but I have yet to really decide on close details. They’re furry, they have soft moth-like wings and feathery antenna, but their general shape is like a four-legged dragon with a long wispy tail!

These dragons hoard things that either play with or emit light. Their origin planet is almost always very dark due to... reasons I haven’t decided yet but that’s coming. So! They’re attracted, just like moths, to light! These hoards typically support a huge ecosystem of their own, since so much of the flora and fauna of this planet rely on their light! There are a lot of glowy/shiny plants and natural minerals and such that exist on this planet, but the introduction of human things on this planet has really affected the contents of the dragons’ hoards.

I’m thinking at this stage there are multiple subspecies of dragons, with a multitude of distant relatives being small, cat-sized dragons that can be domesticated as pets. The main ones tend to be big enough (not sure how big yet...?) to ride, though, and the gravity being different on this planet aids in that. Depending on selective breeding and type, these dragons’ temperaments can be as varied a dog or cat’s!

There have been theories some of the larger ones possess intelligence far more than a human could ever imagine, however. An intelligence so different from a human’s that they would be unable to tell that they’re intelligent at all~

Mothlings are actually quite smart, like really smart. Anyways

Mothlings name their kits after their favorite things, so it’s not uncommon to end up with a name like “Cheese” or “Trinket” and sometimes they might name it after the other parent :3

They can’t see the sky due to their home location, it’s a really dense forest, so they base seasons on 1. Weather. 2. Animals that are coming in. Since bugs die out in Winter, when bugs get low, thats how they figure out its winter if theres not snow

Certain Mothlings like to go out and watch animals, like wolves or deer, and study their behavior, sometimes even mimicking them to the best of their ability (Like, moving in packs, or hunting small animals like how other animals hunt)

In their natural home it’s kind of a neutral zone for the eggs so they’ll mostly lean into the place they were longest, or if they were only kept in there, it’d lean into parents DNA. Depending on which location doesn’t just affect their like fluff or wings, it affects their colors too! So they fit the environment better!

Pack animals or no?

Varies between the dragons but mostly berries! Or bugs! 50/50, depends on the dragon! Most common is strawberries and blackberries (Blackberries are my favorites berries tbh)

And Yes! They can be kept alone but they prefer staying in groups. In their home location they live in small villages across the forest actually :3 think of the rainwing forest but in a mystic taiga from minecraft
