the online alterhuman community is intresting to observe.
like very intresting.
it'a intresting just how much creatures can put down other creatures.
it's intresting that none of them have learned how to stop interacting.
and this is coming from someone who was in that community for like 2 years
it got too toxic and i left. i also don't fit into the community's version of alterhuman/nonhuman.
I've seen some moth alterhumans talk about being attracted to lights, but that's not something I experience. Not in the same way.
I'm not drawn to artificial or man-made lights. I dislike them. I prefer to be in the dark. Fire is an exception but we have pyromania, so that's a different cause, even if it could have some ties to me being a moth in some way. What I am drawn to is the moon and the stars. Which makes sense if the theory about the reason moths fly towards light, especially UV light, being that they use the moon for orientation is correct.
We evolved long before humans even existed, there used to be no other light at night than the stars and moonlight. If that's what we used in order to know where we're flying for thousands of years, then suddenly a new light source appeared, it makes sense why we'd get confused and fly towards human lights too, and that's why we're drawn to UV lights more than to any other kind.
But I live around humans and understand their language. I know what those other lights are. They're not the moon, they're not the stars, they won't show me the way to anything any more than other landmarks will, they will hurt more than just my eyes like they already do if I touch them, or they'll lead me to humans which I want to avoid. I have no reason to get close to them. I know the difference between them and the moon.
I'm drawing myself with my moth phantom limbs. Made me think about how I would function if I was physically a moth-opossum creature like this.
Still have the mouth and digestive system of an opossum, so diet would be mostly the same except I'd really like honey (death's head hawk moths like to eat honey from beehives. We can mask our scent to smell smilar to the bees so we don't get immediately noticed). Still opossum sized too.
I realized mysterious pain/discomfort I felt in my sides in the past might've been phantom sensaton of moth legs. Partial, not full phantom limbs, so I only felt anything in the places where they'd connect to my body. I thought it was just my exposed ribcage tactile hallucination being extra noticeable that day but it being on both sides didn't make sense and it didn't feel the same.
Same with antennae. That's one I feel often. Always a little painful. Always think it's my ears at first but they're way too near our forehead.
