'JENNIFER WILDERMUTH REYES V' Micron 08 Pen on Bristol Paper 19x24in. 2022 $400 Unframed $550 Framed I'll be creating additional work to include in the closing reception of 'COMING TO REALITY', my current project currently up at @mothbellygallery. The closing reception on 2/25 will present an altered and expanded version of the installation that is currently up. I like the concept of doing this because it keeps me motivated throughout the month! That way I don't fall under the classic artist's 'post show depression'! Yep, I've been victim to that time and time again.... This is the fifth portrait I've done of @wildermuthreyesart. The word she sent me for a previous portrait was 'ABUNDANCE' (see second pic in photo thread). That version of her is current up as part of my installation at @mothbellygallery. I couldn't help by subtract the 'abun' and use the word 'DANCE' for this version of her. I took some creative liberties there, however I do feel the word really fits her personality well! Every individual person presented in my installation is a person currently living (or lived at one point) or active in the Tenderloin and it's surround areas. By 'active' I refer to business owners, workers and artists that may not be residents of these areas; but are essential to the economy, culture and soul of these parts of San Francisco. Jennifer lived and worked as an artist in the Nob Hill (and a few other nearby neighborhoods) before moving to the Santa Cruz mountains to find her inspiration in the natural beauty and wildlife of the Redwood Forest. Her works encompass a variety of landscapes, animals, insects and bring attention to various environmental issues. 'JENNIFER WILDERMUTH REYES II' Micron 03/08 On Bristol Paper 19x24in. 2021 $500 Unframed This is my first attempt to capture the energy and likeness of @wildermuthreyesart. This particular piece was a welcomed challange. Portraits are still a new thing for me and I've been enjoying the process of capturing my friends, family, community and fellow artists through my recent work. It my form of documenting this era both in my life, this city and society at large. In the year and a half that I've been drawing these portraits this is one of my favorites so far. It was really awesome and meditative to get lost in her details for these last couple of days. I think that's why I love drawing with fine tip microns so much, they have a way of making time and thought disappear completely!
