the knight takes the mothwing cloak off the body of the greenpath vessel. did they fashion it after a different set of wings, monarch wings? those butterflies live in the basin, not so far from home, and represent an absent father; were they reaching for him?
It’s day 15 of Hollow Knight Art Month and to be honest I just thought “what if the Mothwing Cloak actually looked like moth wings?” Personally, I think they look very stylish in their swooshy new outfit.
