Daniel is in bed with malaria but I can't resist climbing Cerro de Las Tetas at 3750m on my own. It's about Grade IV UIAA, hard enough soloing. It's misty so I build cairns so I can find my way back. The Maquiritare are small but very strong. In the early 70s the Colombian Frontiers Commission was reluctant to come on campaign and clarify the border with the Venezuelans. We fly from Machiques to a base camp below the main ridge.
