Tuesday came around which meant: Arms and abs. (No laughing or picking up stuff for us today!) We have now seen this group of ladies for the last 12 days. It was while I was looking down at my buddy while she was holding my (VERY! hairy) legs, and lifting her legs that I realised we have become pretty close. (Both emotionally and physically!) I mean she had a rather.... shall we say awkward... view from down there and I got to smell her shoes. Excellent.
Lets be honest, we have been closer to these ladies and spent more time with them than most of our regular friends and family. We have held hands, sweated, farted (maybe that’s only me?! A post for a different day...) grunted, groaned, cried, and pretty much been our raw selves in front of a group of relative strangers. I feel like sweating with someone brings a kind of closeness. (Or grossness! Either way.) You can’t put on a facade when you are running around a field or doing 100 squats or pushing yourself to your limit. You can’t be the perfect person everyone else expects you to be. You are just the real you. (Whether that’s a crazy, song singing lunatic or not!) Which is a pretty awesome concept which brings with it an amazing sense of freedom. Freedom to just let go and be who you are.
Its amazing that to find such a network of strong, supportive women. In a world where body shaming is rife, where there is so much competition to look the best, to be the best, to rise to the top of the corporate ladder (and crush whoever to get there!) its awesome to know we are part of a sisterhood. A sisterhood that accepts us, weirdness and all.
