Would you consider delivery? I think City Fresh is still doing them. Trade Fair isn’t, I think. Not sure about others.

I’m not sure City Fresh would deliver to me? It’s pretty far away from me (the closest is Broadway). Both CTown (Grocery #1) and Key Food (Grocery #2) will deliver if I can’t carry stuff, I know, but I think I still have to go to the store itself. 

Partly I think I’m also anxious ‘cause I’m trying to cover stuff I don’t need now but will need by Passover. Plus, I usually get stuff 2-3 times a week and slowly build up enough of a stockpile that I’m good if I get sick and can’t go out for a week or so, but I haven’t done that for a month (and at one point was sick and couldn’t go out for a week). I think that anxiety is dampening my energy... if I take a moment to try to stop worrying, I feel more able? So I should probably just go out and get what I can, and accept that I’ll need to go to Grocery #1 a couple times before Passover.

I haven’t unfriended him, but I think I will. I’m sorry I didn’t do it right away. When he liked the post I made on your wall (cow video, I think) to cheer you up, I was aghast and confused.

Oh, I’m so sorry, J. I didn’t mean to put you (or anyone else) on the spot. I just realized that, like, my Aunt is still friends with him and liked something he posted about a couple days ago, which has me boggled. Does she not know, or not care, or...? 

Not as boggled as I was when he liked your post on my page, however. I don’t know if he could see it because I hadn’t yet blocked him, or if because you posted it, but that’s when I blocked him, because WHAT THE FUCK. I thought about taking the post down, but I didn’t want to offend you, or really, respond to him in any visible way.

I just don’t understand. Any of it.

I’ve come to the realization that I have zero interest in climbing any further on the management chain. If anything I’d rather take a step back or move from interacting with people to strictly book/stack maintenance stuff. Fuck dealing with people and the politics of organizations.

Yeah, I just don’t want to do that at all. I’ve actually liked supervising interns or more junior employees the times I’ve done it, but definitely more in the ‘providing mentoring, being a sounding board’ type of role, not in the ‘controlling projects’ way. 

IDK, I just don’t care! Every manager I’ve ever met, including my own AND bestie, spends all this time complaining about their jobs and internal politics. I already do that enough! I just want move up to where I can be mostly independent without someone breathing down my neck on the day to day and micromanaging stuff like emails, but not so far up that I have to make any real decisions.  

Just tell me what to do, when you need it by, and leave me alone until then. That’s the dream.

It's specifically aimed at the Hasidic communities in Brooklyn. There was a large funeral yesterday with crowds that had to be dispersed. It's been an ongoing thing.

I get that, but it seems irresponsible to call out “Jews” (not even the Hasidic community, but Jews as a whole) when there is a long history of Jewish communities being blamed for disease (and already incidents of violence/conspiracy theories about how coronavirus is a Zionist plot/connected to ‘new world order” interests)

Earlier this week there was a Hasidic wedding here in Chicago where “guests” were supposed to drive by the family of the bride’s home, but ended up congregating on the yard and having to be dispersed by the cops. Their alderman said this- 

“I am absolutely horrified. Social distancing is not a suggestion. It is the law and it saves lives. We are at a critical juncture in the coronavirus outbreak, where we have a chance to flatten the curve and stop the spread of this horrible disease. Selfish gatherings of people, whether in celebration or in prayer, not only give our community a bad name, but they send our neighbors and loved ones to the hospital or morgue."

Which responded to the issue, but doesn’t offer up a specific community to blame. When you release a statement on twitter like that, it’s a message for everyone not just the “offenders,” and I just think it’s an unsafe tactic to name a group of people who may have fucked up but are also at a real risk of a violent response.
