in any case now we're moving away from my world of "men can get pregnant bc i say so" to "straight up a/b/o dynamics" which. not complaining but i'm less versed lmao

but whatever!! important part is: boris is pregnant, shelly is the father

and uh. i honestly don't think much would change from my last pregnant boris post?

his instincts are cranked up to eleven, somehow he's both clingier AND more standoffish, everything in his mind is just blind instincts screaming "BABY PROTECT BABY" that's he's BARELY keeping in check

but with shelly as the father... it's harder to say how she'd react. we haven't seen much of her yet, at least not enough for me to say i have a solid grasp on her character's intricacies. but i can throw out guesses!

i bet she'd be putting in a lot of effort to understand what he's going through so she can help. even if he doesn't let her close often, she's still doing everything she can for him - making food, making beds, helping the rest of the group, just doing everything that boris wants to but can't to take care of him

boris wants to make sure everyone is accounted for? shelly's already doing a headcount. boris wants dinner? shelly's already lighting the fire. boris is cold? cuphead and mugman are basically hissing as she eyes their coat and scarf

her efforts are often a bit clumsy, but it charms both boris and bendy

shit i wrote all of this before going back and seeing that you wanted the reactions from everyone lmao hold on uhhhhhhh

boris is as stunned as he is terrified. he blames himself for being careless, and the fact that he's scared of relationships DEFINITELY doesn't help - he was just starting to open up again, and now he feels like he's babytrapping shelly. plus, he's terrified that he'll be a bad father. but he just. he doesn't want to get rid of the kid. especially not after seeing how excited shelly was. (maybe they can be something of a happy family after all...)

like i said, shelly is excited. like, it doesn't even really cross her mind that they haven't been together long (or even officially) or that she might not be a good mother. all that's on her mind is that she loves boris, and now she'll have more to love. she has some doubts about the situation at large (what she'll say to dandy, how their biology will mix, the Situation they're in, etc) but overall? she's his rock

bendy is stunned. i don't think that boris and shelly were open about their little relationship, so bendy is dealing with complete and utter WHIPLASH that the brother he was telling to go tell the girl he thought was pretty had actually already gotten knocked up by her. still, he's concerned for boris too. it's a lotttt of stress he's under now. his efforts are clumsy, but he is trying to be there for boris. (not enough to call off the quest, though)

mugman is pissed. they're in the middle of a dangerous quest, and those two are off playing shake the sheets???? and then had the AUDACITY to get PREGNANT????? he's mad. not as mad as if it had bendy, but still. he's pretty peeved. only thing keeping him from exploding his boris' miserable puppy dog eyes

cuphead probably just high fived shelly ngl. this isn't his problem, he's not gonna worry about it

dandy is as surprised as he is concerned, but it's a different flavor of concern. this concern is for shelly. he doesn't think she has the experience to be a parent. he thinks she's jumping into this headfirst with no clue what's on the other side, and fears for both boris and the child

i don't have a strong enough grasp of the other gardenview mains in myth to give an individual response for each of them, but honestly? the response i have in mind can be rolled into the same for them all

Silly headcanons of pupshell since the ship is growing on me ever since the recent motm update released:

Boris:

Since he’s scared of women lol, Shelly isn’t an exception from that. However, Boris does admire her strength and determination, and lowk because of her he somewhat gained a bit more confidence in himself as well.

Usually lets Shelly be the one talking for him if they’re around people, however Shelly sometimes accidentally says too much and mentions something Boris does that’s embarrassing so he quietly tries to cover her mouth

Was somewhat uncomfortable at first when Shelly wanted to study him and learn more about his biology since this is the first time she’s seen a toon that’s a giant wolf, however with time and placing some boundaries he’ll let her admire his features as he sits there looking at her

Appreciates Shelly’s yaps as it fills the silence and Boris isn’t the best at maintaining conversation. Shelly worries at first if it annoys him, however Boris reassures her that he loves listening to her talk and tries to remember the small details, which makes Shelly ecstatic over

Shelly

LOVES petting Boris’ fur, she needs something to keep her hands busy so sometimes if she’s busy doing something and Boris rests his head on her shoulder or lap she’ll pet him or give him scratches, which he likes but gets embarrassed of since his tail ends up wagging

Has a bit of trouble with boundaries and personal space at first as she tends to act on impulse a lot, but she learns to slow down a bit with Boris and check first if he’s comfortable with her constantly studying and touching him

Unlike Boris, she’s an outdoorsy person but he’ll still follow her around to make sure she doesn’t get in trouble (and also he doesn’t want to be apart from her for too long)

Tried cooking for Boris once but it didn’t end well, so Boris is the one that handles the cooking

Is somewhat oblivious to Boris’ feelings for her at first (since she’s used to being overlooked and not really noticed) so if Boris confesses first it takes her off guard but then she immediately gets so excited and starts squealing

Likes giving silly nicknames to Boris, which may earn a tail wag from him whenever she does

Relationship dynamic:

They are THE quiet introvert x bubbly extrovert duo and I love them whether it’s romantically or platonically, I hope we get more interactions with them in the comic

Boris is the one that cooks, and Shelly absolutely LOVES eating whatever he makes. She’s also a messy eater but lowk so is Boris so they help each other clean up afterwards

They spend a lot of time cuddling together when they aren’t busy. Shelly loves laying on top of him because of how fluffy and soft he is and sometimes can’t help herself but to squeeze his cheeks or wherever she can grab, which catches Boris off guard at first but eventually he grows to not mind it since it does feel relaxing

Whenever Shelly hasn’t seen Boris in a while (only a few minutes) she charges at him and picks him up as she twirls around in excitement, which scares him at first since he’s TALL and not used to being picked up

Both of them just suddenly having zoomies in the night is rare but CHAOS

They both are clingy to each other do not separate them, Boris ends up quietly whining as he silently waits for Shelly to come back and Shelly can’t help but miss petting Boris and starts fidgeting or shaking her leg out of habit

Since Shelly digs up and collects fossils in the DW game (idk if she still does that in the comic) I can just imagine Boris helping dig fossils up for her as she cleans them. She gets so focused in what she’s doing that she accidentally grabs Boris’ tail one time to dust off the fossils and he lets out a yelp and jumps back

Both love physical touch and are always seen holding hands or just having a hand on each other somewhere. Sometimes Shelly will gently hold onto Boris’ tail if he is the one leading the way so that Shelly doesn’t wander off
