As I pull into my no tell motor inn last night in Barstow on old Route 66 I see my neighbours, an old German couple that split their time between Flagstaff and Escondido unloading their car. I ask if I can help and see this white cat perched on the end of the bed watching American Idol or some network show like that, not moving an inch. She insists he meows, washes himself, purrs and shuts his eyes. They wore matching Mardi Gras beads. I saw nothing of the sort, but have no reason not to believe her. I said I'd come back and say hi in the morning and we could share some coffee coloured water on our porches when it's feeding time Kitty, before they continue on their journey. #route66 #barstow #motoraway #notellmotel (at Barstow, California)
