• We decided on a physical design for the Bearcat instrument (sketches coming soon)
• I began working on the Bearcat v0.6 patch to prepare it for the physical instrument

Bearcat (prototype)Â is an electronic noise instrument designed for the local Philadelphia experimental indie band Motorcycle Maus. Through a collaborative effort, Motorcycle Maus and I (Yantra) developed a vision of an electronic noise instrument that loads, loops and syncs two audio samples that are to be controlled separately. One sample shall be modified to produce a rich drone-like effect. The other sample shall be modified to produce a glitch-like effect. The prototype for this design was coded and organized in MaxMSP. We call it Bearcat. Â Â
• This summer I began collaborating with a local experimental indie band called Motorcycle Maus
• Working specifically with lead Motorcycle Maus member Dan Timlin, we developed a vision for an electronic noise instrument that loads, loops and syncs two audio samples that are to be controlled/modified separately. One sample shall be modified to produce a rich drone-like effect. The other sample shall be modified to produce a glitch-like effect.
• This idea led me to spend the summer learning MaxMSP to be able to produce such an instrument. I learned how to code and use MaxMSP by referencing the 'Help' menu, which contained a ton of well written guides and tutorials. Problems I ran into were solved by searching the Cycling74 online forums.
