as in if i had peeled that potato with any more vigor i would have had a chunk of finger lying in my sink lmao so at this point i am more worried about infection than anything else

yeah, i'm okay, no one got hurt but the car. i'm still kind of shaken up, it doesnt feel real, like im gonna wake up from some weird nightmare or something and the car will be fine.
i'm gonna have to call and cancel class for the next week or three, but school starts on monday and it's gonna fuckin suck getting there and back with not a lot of help. and i have work tomorrow which i might take off or something but i dont know if i can...

Ol' Miss Maia has long since lost count of how many babies she's helped birth, and how many women she's sat with and talked to and held their shoulders as they squatted and grunted and birthed out their babes onto her clean bleached linens. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of squalling muck-covered infants, most of 'em living, and the ones she couldn't keep breathing were a necessary sacrifice to keep their ma alive.
When the deed is done she doesn't stick around for long, just enough to count fingers and toes and sign her NCR paperwork of live birth. The young girls, the ones barely into their teens with no one to turn to and neither shit nor shinola in their pockets, she stays for a few days for them and makes sure they know which end of the baby is up. The rest though, she makes her goodbyes quick smart. after all, she says, it's not seemly to have a ghoul handling a baby.
