As we were walking back from the lake, J spotted something in the tree. It turned out to be an old 35mm film canister with the old film still in it! He's so great at spotting things I don't see!

They had cut all the ivy vines growing up oaks in the area around an old homesite in the woods.
The vines looked incredible...

I wandered around a bit until I found the path the park site had mentioned. It wasn't the longest, by far, but it was lovely to still see brilliant colors on the trees.
I whittled some twisty wands/unicorn horns on the way.

Lake Hartwell is near Clemson (Go Tigers!) and Anderson, South Carolina. It's a sizable Lake. There were several areas to the campground and there were about 120 spots, with electric and water.
We got our spot pretty last minute and we could see the lake across the road. It was not an amazing spot, but it wasn't a bad spot, especially considering our one neighbor never showed and left some room between spots.
Would definitely go back, though not in summer when it's hotter than hell in South Carolina.
Spring, fall and winter, only!
Some of the South Carolina state parks offer a winter special for camping. If you reserve a spot for 30 days they'll cut the price in half. Makes it pretty affordable. Only works for December January and February.
Good thing to ask about ahead of time!
In our area they still haven't dropped the price into off season rates! And the leaves are all of the trees and everything looks pretty bleak!

Happy (Early) Merry Christmas

I had a custom flag made for J for Christmas. I gave it to him early since I wasn't sure when we were going to be using the motorhome again.
Before leaving, J does the tidying up and putting away of things outside while I work on getting the inside cleaned up and tied down.
When we got to the dump station he asked if I remembered the flag (!). I started down the path to go get it but it turns out he was only joking!
He had already packed it up safe!
