Trick or treat!!!! 👩🏽‍🔬🧪🩻

I offer... a treat! A short piece of writing that's been in my notes app for a while

Includes: lab whump, needles, defiant whumpee

She raged as the scientist approached. Snarling, spitting threats, and fighting the thick leather straps holding her down. The chair rattled and shook with the force of her efforts, but everything held fast.

Eventually, the subject slowed down until she was quiet again. Her adrenaline faded as quickly as it started, and she sat limply in the chair, breathing heavily. The room returned to its normal sound level; the lights' incessant buzzing, strange machines hummed, and a heart monitor's rapid beeping that was beginning to slow down.

There was nothing gained. Nothing even risked, really.

She could feel the scientist's presence next to her, patient as always. They both knew she couldn't delay the experiment forever, a day at most and even that was rare. Still, the subject didn't want to acknowledge her defeat.

The scientist cleared her throat, and the subject finally looked at her.

"Are you finished?" she asked, one hand on her hip and the other holding up a syringe filled with a clear liquid.

The subject turned away and nodded. Her grip on the armrests tightened, another threat she couldn't follow through.

"Good. Let's begin then."

“I always knew you were a traitor!”

"I always knew you were a traitor!"

Whumpee's eyes widened. "Wh— What?"

"I just knew," Caretaker hissed. "You disgust me. Guards," they said, waving for the two of them to step up and seize Whumpee, "take them away."

"Wait! Wait! This is a misunderstanding! I don't understand! Caretaker! Please!"

Caretaker didn't even look back.

I want to read your comic where’d she go??

I have my webcomic blog under password right now because its currently not updating and its likely at this point that what I had worked on is going to get scrapped and reworked as a revised version of the story I had planned. I first created magic spent after graduating high school almost two years ago and I’ve learned a lot about art and comic making since then. One of the revisions I’m making is aging the characters from high schoolers to adults as I don’t want write high schoolers going forward as an almost-20-year-old. On a personal life note taking 16 credits each quarter has left me with little time to work on it. If I tried going forward as things are, I wouldn’t be happy with it and there would be drastic jumps in quality as pages get put out sporadically which would suck. As much as I want to make a webcomic, its not the right time for it.

I’m planning to create a better version of it when I can dedicate the time and care that it needs! The characters and story are very near and dear to me so I want what I create with it to be as strong as it can be. When I do come back and work on a revised version it probably wont be hosted on tumblr, or at least tumblr wont be the main hosting site as this isn’t a great website for art anymore. In the mean time I’m going to work on creating one shot comics in my free time to practice and get better. Right now where I’m at, learning and growing is my focus.

Would you ever write a genre out of your comfort zone? It so, what one would you tackle?

🤔 it probably depends. I mostly am drawn to adventure fantasy and hard magic systems and this kind of thing, but i have a dystopia wip and a soft magic soulmates au kind of one. But if it was some other thing, like mistery or romance? Definitely no lmao. I can't figure out misteries even while im reading them and even though i like romance im not really drawn to stories that have it as it main source of conflict. I mean, there are always some but not something id write. I'll leave it for people who like the genre instead!
