Week7 - Thinking through the glass
This is the sand casting outcomes I made last week. I failed to cast a narrow and long shape as I expected. However, sand casting with spacecat had better results than I expected. Especially, the results of using graphite were cleanly cast (right in the picture). Some of my colleagues used sugar water instead of graphite, and personally, I liked the results were used sugar water.
Maybe next time I will use sugar water too.
During the week 7 class time I learned to blow using a mould.
I also realised that when using open and close type moulds and blower wants to take out the glass from the mould; the blower taps the ground by foot as a signal, so that the team member see it and open the mould.
I tried 3 glass gathering for the first time to fit the mould size. It was hard to handle but so much enjoyable indeed.
I was possible to produce glass better and faster than my real skill using moulds. I hope I can make it quickly and accurately without moulds.
