hi so tohru Adachi yeah? love that guy, what a thought. Anyways tell me some unpopular opinions you got of the guy. I'll accept pretty much anything including if u think he isn't/is an incel (it's an interesting convo I thinks)

HI !!! I have… so many thoughts about him.

I’m still new in terms of like community stuff so I don’t know which opinions of mine would be considered “unpopular” per se, but I’ll say that I’ve seen a LOT of people just kind of assume he’s a pedo. & like I do understand why, but there’s two problems I have with that:

A) His point in saying “am I not good enough for you” was clearly NOT the same thing as what he was saying when it came to Mayumi Yamano; I always perceived it as him being purposefully condescending / sarcastic because he thought Konishi was being a gold digger—which was similar to his frustration with Yamano, but idk, nothing about any previous behavior really implied that he had a genuine interest in Konishi, which brings me to my second point.

B) The weirder shit he was saying to her just felt kind of out of character for him in general considering, again, no previous behavior from him ever really implied interest in anybody super young. He says “you caught my eye” to Yamano, but he doesn’t even say any such thing to Konishi.

All that being said, yeah, I do think he’s an incel. Granted, a lot of his misogynistic viewpoints are very typical for guys his age in the late-90s / early-2000s. Weirdly, even though there’s certainly a BIT of entitlement there, I don’t think it quite drives him the way it does for a lot of incels.

The biggest factor driving him is his desire to be viewed as successful, or talented, & it’s something he’s not really consciously aware is a “desire”.

See, it was the second Yamano emphasized “why would I tell you” that he began to lose his temper. As soon as Adachi perceived her as not viewing him in particular as an equal, that was when he decided to begin twisting it in a really misogynistic way, to convince himself he shouldn’t have been the one wasting his time on her rather than the other way around. If it was really just entitlement to her & her time, he likely would’ve LED with the “you actually caught my eye” line, or at least said it sooner.

But he didn’t, because he’s got such an avoidant attachment style to begin with; whether he’ll admit it or not, he wants love—he wants connections—but he believes he’s just inherently unworthy unless he claws his way to the top, but even then, that feeling of unworthiness just continues to fester because no amount of success will ever be enough for him to healthily initiate a relationship of ANY kind unless he mans the fuck up & faces the fact that his worldview is flawed, & that one does not need to be any better than anyone else to deserve the care that he didn’t receive from his parents growing up. But he also needs to realize it’s also his fault for actively refusing to engage with anybody in favor of chasing success.

You can’t really explain his problem without going back & forth between the same couple of things because they all happen at the same time & reinforce each other.

But erm yeah 👍 he’s definitely an incel, just a different kind of incel than you would expect just from hearing that word LMAO

He listens to it & thinks “wow… this song is about me”.

& to a certain extent, I do think it fits him, but I like to think HE thinks it fits him way more than it actually does.
