That's right, I made another fuck-off massive drawing of my friends for her birthday. This one is for @blotsamwich who """coincidentally""" shares a name with the Blot from Epic Mickey, so it's fight time! I know in the game, the Blot Spirits are only inside the Blot but I wanted to add some more action to the scene, so I put them here, plus it gave me an excuse to put in some of her OCs from Splatoon, Pokemon, and Hollow Knight. Also fun fact I lost access to my drawing tablet partway through drawing this, so I had to draw those tentacles all without outlines, it was all line tool babyyyy

“But you should know, Celeste Mountain is a strange place. You might see things. Things you ain’t ready to see.” 

I beat Celeste a few weeks ago and I’ve been chipping away at this since. After my couple decades of gaming, this one quickly became my favourite of them all. It left a lasting impact on me and I tried to apply its message of overcoming one’s personal struggles to my own art. I hope I did the game justice, it’s truly special. Farewell was the thing to really cinch it for me, but I wanna do another piece just for that. 

This was an exercise in: 

-Getting used to my new iPad Pro, Apple Pencil 2 and Procreate! I love this combo! 

-Failing again and again with strokes, but learning that failure supposed to happen and it’s the only way to learn. 

-Staying true to the source material but with enough of myself in the overall look.

If you haven’t played celeste, you need to.

Celeste is one of only 4 other games that have impacted me on such a level.

I never have felt so heard while playing a game. The mirror temple and the fire scene with Theo were such hard hitting moments for myself who has social anxiety; while my story and Madeline’s story was not the same I felt so much empathy for all the characters.

The soundtrack and art is beautiful. It has moved me to tears before.

I highly recommend buying this game. It’s available on Nintendo Switch, Steam/PC, PS4, and XBOX, for a pretty cheap price too.

It's finally time to say goodbye to a game that I've been playing for a long time... because I finally reached the top of Mount Celeste! Words aren't enough to do this wonderful, absolutely gorgeous game justice. Come watch me finish this beauty!
