Mountain Boards
What is a mountain board?
Mountainboarding, also known as All-Terrain Boarding (ATB), Dirtboarding, Land Boarding, and Grass Boarding, is a cross over between skateboarding and snowboarding. Mountainboarding started as a way of snowboarding all year round. Snowboarding can be expensive due to the price of travel to and from snow resorts. However, unlike snowboarding, mountainboarding can be done almost anywhere.
Mountain Boards are made up of the following components:
Deck
Bindings
Wheels with pneumatic tires
Trucks
There are also little accessories you can add to your mountain board to increase its performance. You can learn more about mountain boards accessories here.
Where can you ride a Mountain board?
Mountain boarders ride specifically designed boardercross tracks, slopestyle parks, grass hills, woodlands, gravel tracks, streets, skateparks, ski resorts, BMX courses and mountain bike trails. It is this ability to ride such a variety of terrain that makes mountainboarding different from other board sports. You can also ride a mountain board using a Power Kite on flat grounds. As you can use the power of the kite to get pulled along, you will not need a steep hill to gain momentum.
Kite Mountainboarding
Kite landboarding or kite mountain boarding is a new sport of Power Kiting using the 4 wheeled All Terrain Boards with the addition of high performance traction foil kites. All the kite surf tricks are possible like back loops front loops grabs and board offs and a whole lot more!
Regardless of age, as long as you are reasonably fit and have full respect for the wind, it is not difficult to become a kite landboarder. Training for qualification, experience or taster session, the formal kite landboarding lessons from a recognised kite centre will ensure a safe, fun and an exciting environment to learn and to progress. We recommend you always wear appropriate personal protection equipment. A helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are recommended at all times.
