Inara’s sure that the way Nathaniel chokes on his tongue at his desk should be taken as an insult, but to be frank, she hasn’t got the fucks. Her head hung back, her feet stretched towards the fire...she can’t be assed to look up even to shoot him a look. 

     “To be clear: you would... be wed in order to avoid paperwork?” climbed out of his throat after a good long space of quiet. She didn’t have to open her eyes to imagine the look on his face, and that made her smile a little bit. 

     “Folks get married for less.”

     “Your commitment to laziness knows no bounds, it seems,” he said, voice tense. 

She opened her eyes. Even from upside down, well. He looked all sorts of concerned. 

     “I’m all sorts of loyal,” she confirmed, and chuckled a bit as he scowled.

The  giantess  was  utterly  speechless,  unable  to  begin  to  return  a  remark.  For  someone  of  her  standing,  TOWERING  over  anyone  she  crossed  paths  with  was  not  uncommon,  but  in  her  current  situation  her  height  was  daunting.  Never  before  had  Lyris  truly overshadowed  someone,  in  every  sense  of  the  word   ─  even  the  few  Bosmer  that  she  had  seen  never  appeared  that  small.  She  had  to  admit,  the  other’s  demeanour  regarding  the  entire  encounter  was  rather  shocking  considering  that  her  countenance  &  giant  battle-axe  often  INTIMIDATED  those  she  met.   ❛  I’m  sorry.  It’s  just…  you’re  so  SMALL.  ❜

     The slightest amount of offense crept into his throat, but aside from that- he was relatively calm. Indeed, the scene before them was a tragedy. Ignorant eyes and rebellious mouth had lashed about the College, a problematic young pupil who saw fit to overstep guidelines and VIOLATE regulations constantly. And it was with such VITRIOL, the student had chosen to pay no heed to one of the rules commonly seen as sensible by all. Most were forbidden from treading upon the ice sheets, the expansive Sea of Ghosts was a breeding ground for death and danger.. as proven by the unsightly display they happened upon.

     To die in such a way was.. hilariously tragic, though Silas hadn’t found it so. A spell tome manufactured at the hands of the inexperienced and arrogant, designed to bring flight to the flightless, and it did!...Briefly.. before said student had plunged to their untimely end.

     Indeed, the ArchMage felt grim. Even if the naive young man had met his end in a humorous fashion, he was still gone from this world. Only because he had no desire to listen..
