just a small list of headcanons that i think are important to how i portray idgrod
idgrod fought in the great war (4E 171–4E 175) although she was already jarl of hjaalmarch. she temporarily left control of her hold to hoag stormcloak.
she has a very deep and a very well hidden hatred of the thalmor. the only reason she attends elenwen’s parties is to gather any information she can and make herself seem unimposing, that and the free wine and hot gossip.
idgrod has six children; idgrod the younger and joric being the youngest.
her relationship with her four oldest children, korir, britte, olfina, and jon is fragile at best.
when her four oldest children were young she heavily pushed them towards magic because they not only had natural talent for the arcane but also because she desperately wanted all of her children not to adopt the typical nord way of thinking about magic. ultimately that backfired and her four eldest children now cling harder than ever to the nord views on magic and the arcane.
idgrod can see the future but must remain neutral in order retain that ability.
because she can see the future she is seen as the odd jarl, more often than not the other jarls avoid her, not only because she’s a little (more than a little) off because she’s seeing so many realities but because she’s known for being a powerful mage and healer and to most nords magic=bad.
as a girl idgrod studied at the college of winterhold until her mother died and she became the next jarl.
argi, idgrod’s younger sister died when idgrod was ten years old, then her father, oskor when she was fourteen, and her mother, priscilla, the former jarl of the hjaalmarch when she was sixteen. no one alive knows how argi died except for idgrod.
idgrod is older than her husband, alsfur, by eight years.
idgrod has mastered all five schools of magic (destruction, restoration, illusion, conjuration, and alteration) as is also a highly skilled enchanter, alchemist, archer, and necromancer.
idgrod will offer to enchant, craft, teach, etc., in any of her areas of expertise mentioned above (alchemy, enchanting, necromancy, archery, and any of the five schools of magic; illusion, alteration, conjuration, destruction, and restoration.) but only after the dragonborn has taken care of movarth.
as a skilled necromancer idgrod has a major advantage in morthal and the surrounding swamp area as nearly every dead body has been disposed of in the abundant swamp. my point is don’t come for idgrod or she’ll raise an army of the undead that could easily reach hundreds or even thousands.
idgrod is a devout daedra worshipper. she does worship the nine divines but tends to favor the daedric princes. in particular she worships hermaeus mora, vaermina, nocturnal, sanguine, sheogorath, azura, clavicus vile, and mephala, over the other daedra and divines.
because of her devotion to several of the daedric princes idgrod has been in possession of several daedric artifacts over the years including but not limited to; the black books, the skull of corruption, the ring of namira, and mehrunes’ razor. during the brief periods of time when idgrod had one of these items in her possession she was under the direction of it’s correlating prince and had orders to move, hide, or even destroy that artifact in the case of mehrunes’ razor.
