My Hometown 2024 by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: Same scene - Different times: www.flickr.com/photos/shedraway/40580831553/in/album-7217... With the war going on in Lebanon, I tried to keep my wife and my spirit up by keeping focused on family and our well being. Every once a while, I would pick my camera and shoot a photo or two here and there. It downed on me that I have taken a photo of this areas, years ago, So I took another, now with a new camera and a new lens. It is a bit strange, right after I came back from Lebanon, to be thinking safety. After leaving Lebanon under war conditions, My wife and I were faced with Hurricane Milton hitting Florida. We had very little time to prepare so we left everything outside. We only brought into the house small items so they don’t become flying ornaments. We decided to sit out the hurricane at our house, so we did not seek shelter. The wind sound was pretty ominous. At the break of daylight, the next day, everything was calm and the rain stopped. The Energy company had issued a notice that thousands of homes were without power. Luckily we were not in their statistics. We still have power. We had more fear from the Weather Authority Alerts, invading our phones, warning us about potential tornados. Throughout the night, we had 4 warnings of these, sporadically hitting our phones. I gave up around 1:30 AM and went to sleep, only to be awaken at around 3 AM’ish with another warning of those. I should have turned my phone before I went to sleep. 😊 Outside the house, it is littered with branch leaves, tree branches, and some flying papers. Other than that, from Lebanon to Florida, our casualty is our pride and some moments of fear but all in all, thank God, we are safe! I still have at work, about hundredth of emails to go through! Top that, with few compliance training courses I am passed their due date! That is scary! Oouf! LOL. Luckily and thank God we are safe!
