Mount Raung is located in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, at an elevation of 3,344 mdpl. This active volcano has a large crater approximately 2 km in diameter and 500 meters deep, surrounded by steep crater walls.
Climbing Mount Raung is considered difficult due to the steep, rocky terrain and narrow paths. Strong physical condition and technical climbing experience are required to navigate the challenging route.
The closest access point is via Kalibaru, Banyuwangi. Climbers from Surabaya are advised to spend the night in Kalibaru before beginning the climb, and 4 days and 3 nights package is suitable for experienced climbers.
